IV. Saint Seiya: Soul of Gold - Saga as Protagonist/Hero

In this spin-off, Saga is revived along with the other Gold Saints to fight in Asgard.

Saga doesn't have a direct role in the Poseidon Saga, as he is dead. However, his brother Kanon of Gemini is a central character as Poseidon's Marine General (Sea Dragon) and later redeems himself.

Saga is resurrected as a Specter of Hades, but his true loyalty is to Athena.

◦ Galaxian Explosion: His most devastating attack, a psychic technique that creates an energy explosion capable of destroying galaxies (metaphorically).

◦ Another Dimension: Opens a portal to another dimension to banish opponents into the void of space.

◦ Imperial Devil Fist (Genrō Maō Ken): A mental attack that destroys the opponent's brain, turning them into his puppet. It only breaks if he kills someone or sees someone die in front of him.

◦ Mastery of the Seventh Sense: As a Gold Saint, Saga masters the seventh sense, which allows him to move at the speed of light and possess extraordinary strength and power.

• Strategy: He was an excellent strategist and manipulator (Summary: 4, 6).

• Hades Saga: He is briefly resurrected as one of Hades' Specters, alongside other Gold Saints like Shura and Camus. However, his true loyalty remains with Athena. He and the other Gold Saint "Specters" pretend to obey Hades in order to deliver his divine armor to Athena and thus help her defeat the god of the Underworld (Summary: 5). They sacrifice themselves to break the Wailing Wall.

• Soul of Gold: He is revived in Asgard as an Einherjar, receiving an upgraded God Cloth (Divine Armor) from Odin to fight against Loki.

3. Role in History:

• Main Antagonist: Saga is the main antagonist of the Sanctuary Saga (the first major part of Saint Seiya). He murdered the true Patriarch (Shion in the manga; Ares in the original anime) and usurped his identity to rule the Sanctuary for 13 years. His goal was to kill the infant Athena (Saori Kido) and conquer the world (Summary: 1, 3, 5).

• Saga's Rebellion: He orchestrated most of the events that led to Seiya and the Bronze Knights fighting in the Twelve Houses.

• Death: After being defeated by Seiya and the Bronze Knights, and facing his own good side, Saga takes his own life in regret, hitting his heart or using Athena's staff (Summary: 5).

• Distinctive characteristic: Saga is famous for his dual personality, often described as "the kindness of an angel and the wickedness of a demon" (Summary: 1, 6).

◦ Good Side: Extremely loyal to Athena, just, loving, romantic, kindly protective, and wise. He was considered a god for his righteousness before becoming corrupted (Summary: 3, 5).

◦ Evil Side: Ambitious, cruel, imposing, intense, manipulative, and power-hungry. This side sought to usurp Athena and dominate the Earth (Summary: 2, 4, 6). Origin of the duality: In the manga, this duality is intrinsic to his being. In some adaptations or spin-offs, it is suggested that this evil may have been influenced by an evil spirit (Lemure) at birth (Summary: 7) or by the influence of his brother Kanon and the specter of evil (Summary: 5, 6).

• Manifestation: When his evil side took control, his hair could change color (in the manga it was blonde to black, in the anime from blue to light gray) (Summary: 1, 6). His two personalities could even communicate with each other (Summary: 1, 4, 6).

• Rank: Gold Saint of Gemini, one of Athena's 12 most powerful Saints.
