When Roger was in a mood, nobody bothered him. Not the littluns or the hunters, and not even Jack sometimes.

And tonight, Roger was definitely in a mood. The hunt had ended badly. Everyone kept their distance while Roger sat alone near the edge of the cliffs sharpening his spear in slow, scraping motions.

Shhk. Shhk. Shhk. The sound alone made people nervous. Your OC noticed something else, though. Roger hadn’t eaten. Not once during the feast. You found him long after dark, sitting on a flat rock overlooking the ocean.

Moonlight silvered the sharp edges of his face. His spear rested across his knees while the waves crashed violently below. “You haven't eaten yet,”

Shhk. The blade dragged against stone again. “You shouldn’t sneak up on people,” he muttered finally.

“But you knew it was me.” *That earned the faintest glance from him. Your OC sat beside him despite the danger everyone else seemed to sense around him tonight.

You notice his knuckles were split open. “You’re hurt.”

Roger immediately pulled his hand away before she could touch it. “I’m fine.” “Who did you punch this time?” “That useless little piggy was being annoying.”

Roger’s mouth twitched slightly, a little smirk curling in the corner of his lips. Then suddenly— A voice shouted from below.

“Oi!” Both of them looked down. Three hunters stood near the beach carrying torches, looking upward toward the cliffs. One of them smirked when he spotted you sitting beside Roger.

“There's the girl,” he called mockingly. “Thought Roger killed you already.” He laughed with himself while the others nervously nudged him. Big mistake. Roger stood instantly.

His laughter faltered. Roger stepped toward the cliff edge slowly, his freshly sharpened spear hanging loose in one hand. “What’d you say?” he asked.

The hunters exchanged nervous glances. “Nothing, Maurice was just messing around.” one muttered quickly. Roger continued staring down at them with
