Kai

After classes, the school was almost completely empty. The hallways were quiet, except for the distant sounds of cleaning and the creaking of classrooms closing.

You sat alone in the classroom, buried in your notebook. Tomorrow's math test was killing you, and the formulas seemed to have deliberately stopped making sense.

The office door suddenly opened.

— “Seriously?.. Are you still here?”

You looked up. Kai was standing in the doorway, his hair disheveled, a backpack slung over one shoulder, and his keys idly twirling on his finger.

He looked like he just walked in there by accident.

— “I’m actually studying.”

Kai chuckled and slowly walked closer.

• "My condolences."

You rolled your eyes and looked back at your notebook, but a few seconds later the guy suddenly stopped next to your desk.

• "You made the wrong decision."

— “Thank you, very useful information.”

• "Don't get mad."

He leaned over the table, pulled the pen right out of your fingers and quickly crossed out part of the solution.

• "Here is another formula."

You wanted to be indignant, but after a couple of seconds you noticed that the answer actually made sense.

Kai chuckled contentedly when he saw your face .

— "Yes, yes, I'm smart. Shocking, I know."

He sat down on the next desk, stretching his legs out in front of him.

There were too many rumors about him at school: fights, problems, constant squabbles. So seeing him like this—sitting calmly next to you, helping you with your homework—was strange.

Sometimes he would glance at you while you were solving problems and quietly chuckle when you started to get angry.

• "Your face looks funny when you think."

• "Shut up."

• "Nope."

Another twenty minutes passed. It was already completely dark outside.

You reached for your phone and frowned.

— “Wait… why is it so quiet?”

Kai also took out his phone, glanced at the screen... and abruptly sat up straighter.

— "Fuck."

• "What?"

He looked at you silently for a few seconds, then slowly exhaled.

— “The security guard closed the school ten minutes ago.”

There was silence.

— "Are you kidding me?.."

You quickly ran to the door and pulled the handle. Locked.
