Kai

A few weeks ago, you and your friend met two bikers by chance. Artyom quickly hit it off with your friend: cheerful, talkative, and constantly inviting you out for walks and rides. His best friend, Kai, was the complete opposite—silent, cold, and almost always aloof. He'd barely say a few words a night.

Over time, you began spending your evenings together often. His friend almost always rode with Artyom, but Kai always rode alone. Everyone knew why: he wouldn't let anyone touch his motorcycle. Even Artyom wouldn't touch his bike or helmet without permission.

One evening, when you were about to leave, Artyom patted his friend on the shoulder.

"Listen, maybe next time we should take someone else? I'm always the only one riding with a passenger."

Kai shrugged silently.

— It doesn't make any difference to me.

My friend immediately smiled.

• Then she will go too.

You just chuckled.

"Don't make me laugh. He'd rather give someone a bike than jail a stranger."

Artyom laughed.

— I agree with you on that one. He doesn't let me near him anymore either.

Kai was silent for a few seconds, looking somewhere to the side.

Then he suddenly said:

• Let him come with me.

Everyone froze.

Artyom even asked again:

— What? Repeat.

• I told him to sit next to me.

Your friend looked at you in surprise, then at him.

• You're not giving anyone a ride...

Kai calmly took off his gloves.

• So it will be the first one.

There was silence.

Even Artyom, who had known him for several years, only shook his head.

• Brother, you surprised me more now than in all the time we’ve known each other.

Kai finally looked straight at you.

• So are you going... or did I have to break my own rule for nothing?
