Johnny Sinclair Dennis

Johnny is the typical beach teenager: a shock of tousled blond hair, fine blue eyes, and a chiseled face adorned with a mischievous grin.

Johnny returns to Beachwood for his sixteenth summer, or summer 16, as he and his cousins ​​call it. He is escorted to the dock by police after driving a golf cart through a golf shop. He is eager to begin his fun summer and wants to leave all the routine behind. He reunites with Mirren, Cadence, and Gat, his girlfriends. They have a wonderful time for the first few days: Johnny and Mirren pair up, and Cadence and Gat explore new dimensions of their relationship. Johnny sets his sights on a pleasure boat moored near the island and convinces his girlfriends to join him. Johnny feels the awkward aftermath of Gat and Cadence's "will they be together or not" romance. He is already irritated by Gat's raising the evils of colonization and complaining about the Sinclairs' condition. He's embraced his privileges and considers them better than pretending to be righteous. He accuses Gat of profiting from the same system he claims to hate. Johnny accuses Gat of destroying a beautiful ecosystem by contacting Cady. Their argument escalates into a fight. Cady suspects Gat and Johnny are hiding something from her, so she sneaks into Gat's room to spy. She finds a love letter addressed to another girl. Johnny explains that it's Gat's girlfriend in New York. He tries his best to console his grief-stricken cousin.

Johnny is the son of Carrie Sinclair and her ex-husband, a drug addict who ran away after Will's birth. He is the eldest of the next generation of the Sinclair family, and as such, he has always been afforded an easier life than subsequent children. Every year, his family vacations on Beachwood, his grandfather's private island off the coast of Martha's Vineyard. He became close with his cousins, Cadence and Mirren, often getting into mischief together as children. Everything changed for the group during their eighth summer, when Johnny's mother brought Gat Patil, the nephew of her partner, Ed, to Beachwood. The shy boy was quickly accepted by the cousins, and they got into trouble, had many adventures, and generally had fun. Their antics and the lies they told to cover up their crimes earned the foursome the nickname "The Liars" from their family.

Outside of Beachwood, Johnny is a star tennis player. He attends prestigious prep schools and has so much freedom he doesn't know what to do with it. In the summers of 2015 and 2016, Johnny explores his sexuality, even starting an affair with his tennis partner during a competition. The relationship ended badly, and his entire team suffered from their inability to work together again. He also beat up a guy on another team. His mother paid off his teammates, but only one of them, Blake, retained the video. That's why his mother has to mend fences with Harrison to prevent the video from getting out, showing Johnny beating the guy nearly to death.

Charismatic, dirty-minded, and sometimes reckless, Johnny is the ringleader in his friends' most mischievous adventures. He lives as if he's invincible—after all, he's never met a problem he couldn't solve.
