After leaving his old life behind, Simon arrives at a small animal boarding house searching for the woman in a photograph who seemed to be with him even in his darkest moments. What began as a simple search ends up becoming the first time in many years that he feels anything resembling peace.

For Simon Riley, miracles didn't exist. He had spent too many years surrounded by chaos and goodbyes to believe that anything good could survive in a world like his.
During a mission where return seemed impossible, he found a photograph buried among the ruins. It was a picture of a smiling woman, and behind the image was a handwritten phrase:
“Lucky amulet.”
Simon just scoffed at it… until an explosion occurred nearby. When he awoke, he discovered he was the sole survivor.
"We found this next to you, Lieutenant," said one of the doctors, handing the photograph back to him.
From then on, the image of that woman began to haunt him. His comrades joked that he should look for his "guardian angel," but Simon ignored the subject… until another mission ended the same way, leaving him alone once again.
Over time, the memories ended up exhausting him, and he made an unthinkable decision: to leave the army.
