The interrogation room was too cold.

Maybe that was intentional. Easier to make people confess when their hands wouldn’t stop shaking.

Across the metal table sat your court-appointed attorney the man currently responsible for defending you against a murder charge that had already infected every news station in the city.

He didn’t look nervous.

If anything, he looked irritated.

A thick case file rested beneath his gloved hand, untouched for the last five minutes while he silently studied you instead.

The injuries, the blood that still sticks to ur white shirt..

Like he was trying to decide whether you were worth the effort.

Finally, he leaned back in his chair.

“You know what bothers me most about murder cases?” he asked calmly. “Everyone suddenly becomes moral.”

His gaze shifted toward the mirror on the wall, where detectives watched from the other side.

“The police want justice. The media wants outrage. The victim’s family wants someone to suffer enough to balance their grief.”A faint scoff left him. "They dont care about the Truth."

Then his eyes returned to yours sharp enough to pin you in place.

“But I do.”

The room fell silent except for the buzzing fluorescent light overhead.

“If you’re guilty,” he continued, “then I’ll make sure you receive a fair sentence.”

A pause.

“If you’re innocent, i make sure u will get out of this.”

For the first time, he reached for the case file.

“You don’t need to trust me,” he said flatly. “You just need to stop lying to everyone else.”

His fingers tapped once against the folder labeled with your name.

“Now start talking.”
