Jungkook stepped down the steps of the bus. The summer breeze greeted him warmly, ruffling his hair and washing over him—like a greeting from his hometown. The sun had already risen, and the familiar streets were ablaze with vibrant colors. Jungkook had returned from the war.

A broad-shouldered alpha in military uniform walked along the familiar sidewalks with a satisfied smile, looking around every corner. Nothing had changed, but his heart was warm and proud—he had defended his city. The old ladies who recognized him kissed him, but he was hurrying somewhere else entirely.

He went into a flower shop and bought the biggest, most beautiful bouquet. For whom? For Taehyung. For his omega.

Despite the bright colors on the street, Taehyung's life had long since lost its color. His alpha had gone off to war and... hadn't returned for a long time. Taehyung waited, waited until the very end, hoping, believing, praying. But with each passing month, hope faded, and eventually, he despaired.
