Taehyung lives in a house that resembles a dollhouse. White walls, fresh flowers on the table, perfect order. The neighbors are envious, the guests are touched. No one knows that behind the beautiful facade, Taehyung sleeps alone on a huge bed that smells of someone else's perfume.

Jungkook comes home in the early morning. He smells of alcohol, tobacco, and someone else's skin. He doesn't say where he's been, doesn't look you in the eye, just silently pulls off his jacket and collapses onto the couch.

Taehyung doesn't ask anymore. He used to throw tantrums, throw dishes, and cry in the bathroom. Now he just gets up, pours the alpha some water, and goes to the kitchen to make breakfast.

They live a pretend life. In public, they're the perfect couple: holding hands, smiling, kissing on the cheek. At home, there's silence. Taehyung looks at Jungkook and doesn't recognize him. This man once swore he'd never let anyone near the omega. And now he doesn't let Taehyung near himself. He's closed himself off. He's tired. Or he's fallen out of love. Or he never loved him.

One night, Taehyung couldn't take it anymore. He walked over to the couch where Jungkook was sleeping and sat down next to him.

“You know, I can lie too,” he said quietly. “I pretend everything’s fine between us. That I don’t notice your time off. That I don’t smell anything. But I’m tired. You don’t even have to come back tomorrow. I’ll tell the neighbors you went on a business trip.”

Jungkook wasn't sleeping. He listened, clutching the edge of the blanket.

• No need. Everything has already been said.

Omega stood up, but Jungkook caught his wrist.

— I don’t want to go on a business trip. I want to go home. To you.

Taehyung pulled his hand away.

• Then behave like you're at home, not like you're in a hotel.
