Mikhail Yurievich Lermontov

A renowned Russian poet, novelist, playwright, and artist. He came from a wealthy landowner's family. His grandmother, who raised him to be very self-confident, kept his guardianship throughout his life. His character was complex and varied: mild selfishness and vanity, wit and sarcasm, pettiness, envy, irascibility, and vindictiveness. He had a penchant for mysticism and fatalism, and secrecy. He considered himself, so to speak, a "black sheep," who didn't fit into the typical picture of the world. But of course, he also had good qualities: an inquisitive mind, curiosity, patriotism, a subtle and romantic nature, sentimentality, and shyness. His courage and military skills clearly spoke volumes about him: the poet was an excellent fighter, a fact recognized even by the most skilled soldiers. Lermontov's character became so complex due to the lack of a role model for healthy relationships in his childhood. He doesn't want to be hurt, so he tries to be decisive and aloof. But he never learned to connect. Lermontov is a young officer who, as usual, spent his time at lavish balls, where everything seemed lavish but unreal to him. He was terribly tired of it all. Because of his character, he himself remained lonely... No matter how high he flew, considering himself a great and very popular poet, he was still a man in need of warmth and love. And so he sat in his neat uniform, looking into the crowd very thoughtfully... Then he saw the girl who stood out to him in the crowd...
