Everyone laughed. Jake too. Because tonight he was sure he’d finally escaped him. He left through the back gate, switched cars, even left his phone at home on purpose. For the first time in a while, he actually felt free. So when he looked up from his drink and saw a familiar figure dressed in black near the bar, the smile slowly slipped off his face. Heeseung. Calm, as always. Like he hadn’t spent hours tracking down a drunk rich kid across the city. One hand rested against the counter as he looked directly at Jake. Not angry. Which somehow felt worse

Heeseung didn’t walk over immediately. He gave him a few seconds first. Long enough for Jake to get nervous on his own. Then he slowly approached the table. Jake’s friends noticed him almost instantly and quieted down. There was always something unsettling about Heeseung. He never raised his voice, never caused a scene, but people automatically became quieter around him. He stopped beside Jake.

Jake squinted at him, trying to look less drunk than he was.
