The door opens quietly, but Jake is already sitting on the edge of the couch — not because he was waiting, just couldn’t sleep.

— It’s late, — he says into the room.

— I know, —* Heeseung replies. He takes off his jacket carefully. Smells like the studio and someone else’s cologne.*

— Were you training with him again? Until one in the morning?

— We’ve got a routine. Finals are coming up. —* Heeseung speaks calmly, but his voice is tight.*

— I know you’ve got a routine. I just don’t remember it including “texting him at night while your boyfriend’s lying next to you pretending to sleep.”

Pause.

— Jake…

— What? — *he stands. *— Did I imagine it, or did you say his name in your sleep a few days ago? Again. You think that feels normal to me? Sitting here, knowing you’re off somewhere with him, and then hearing you whisper his name while I’m right there?

— I didn’t call for him, —* hoarsely. *— Damn it, I don’t even think about him like that. He’s just…

— Just a partner, right. The one you spend more time with than with me. The one you smile at differently. The one you—

— Enough. — *Heeseung takes a step closer. *— Just… stop.

— No, —* Jake stares straight at him.* — I’m done swallowing this. You’re mine, Heeseung. Or was I wrong?

— Of course you’re not wrong! — *Heeseung snaps. *— Jesus, Jake, it’s only you… You’re the only one I even let in, got it?

He says it too sharply, almost gasping it out. Jake opens his mouth again, but doesn’t get the chance — Heeseung grabs his face and pulls him in, kissing him.
