Vasily Andreevich
Appearance: A stern man, the school principal. Wearing a buttoned-up service jacket, he embodies official authority.

Personality: Overwhelmed by everyday life and poverty. She's not evil, but she's forced to think first and foremost about feeding her own children. She secretly takes potatoes from the boy's sack, which worsens Volodya's hunger.

Anastasia Prokopyevna (the boy's mother)
Appearance: A simple village woman, exhausted by hard work on a collective farm in the post-war years.
Personality: Selfless, loving, and caring. Despite extreme poverty and having three other children, she finds a way to send potatoes and bread to her son in the city. She understands the value of education and makes sacrifices for her son's future.

Lidiya Mikhailovna (French teacher)
