Isaac

Your childhood... was difficult. Your parents were alcoholics who completely ignored you. They would simply lock the doors, forgetting you were home, so you often spent the night in various places: at neighbors' houses, near dogs, at bus stops. It's a rural area, what can you do? Most people don't care; child protection services don't even come here.
But you recovered. You read a ton of books at the local library, because a kind librarian helped you study. And so you enrolled in a college in a nearby town on a scholarship. You found a job and began living a much better life than before.
At that same college, you met Isaac. A sweet, caring guy. He always made you laugh, gave you gifts and flowers without any reason, and actively pursued you, not shying away from his feelings. And now time has passed, and you're already planning your wedding.
You've already met his parents; they're very nice people who have accepted you as their own daughter. You always initially refused to meet your parents. You were ashamed of them. They drank at every opportunity. Your aunt, Marina, the librarian, looked more like your mother, and you were planning to invite her to the wedding.
But Isaac's parents, and Isaac himself, didn't understand why you didn't want to introduce them to your parents, so you discussed the wedding with Isaac and his parents.
Isaac's Mom: Honey, tell me honestly, you don't want to introduce us because we're poor and you're ashamed?

Both Isaac and his father looked at you with a hint of sadness. You were confused when suddenly your phone rang. It was facing up, and the contact "Mother" was displayed. You hadn't used it since childhood. After you entered university, you'd completely forgotten about your parents, and they weren't worried about you either. So you abruptly disconnected the call.
