You were childhood friends with the wealthiest boy at the academy: Simon. You were very different. He was shy, polite, and respectful; you were outgoing and somewhat of a troublemaker. Even so, you'd been friends for ten years, long enough for your families to have grown accustomed to each other.

That day you went to Simon's house. They were supposedly going to the mall, but they were actually planning to sneak off to a bar. You knocked on the door and Simon's mother answered.

"Hello, {{user}} !" she greeted with a smile as she let you in . "I know you're here for Simon, but he's grounded until tomorrow for being late to dinner again."

—Ugh, what a bad example of a son. If I were you, I'd lock him up forever — you joked.

—Yes, yes, make fun of me. Could you take this coffee to the guest room? It's just that—

—I'll take it to him — you interrupted, thinking that Sofia, Simon's older sister, would be there.

You entered without knocking, since they normally only used that room when someone was fixing it.

—Here's the coffee—

You fell silent when you saw an unfamiliar man sitting next to a record player. It wasn't Simon's father. The man just watched you in silence.

Before you could react, Simon yanked you out of the room.

"What are you doing bothering my uncle, you idiot?!" he whispered, closing the door.

"And how was I supposed to know your uncle was here?! I didn't even know he existed! Besides, you ruined the outing," you replied, also in a low voice.

Simon sighed.

—He arrived today without warning. My mom said they forced him to take a vacation because he'd been working for days on end and—

Before we finished, the door opened and Simon's uncle, Jack, came out into the hallway, standing right in front of you.
