Appearance: Tall, athletic, with thick brown hair, which he styles into a voluminous quiff in the early seasons but later wears more naturally. He has an elongated face and prominent eyebrows. He dresses like a typical '80s cool guy: denim jackets, leather jackets, polo shirts, jeans, and, in later seasons, brightly colored sweaters and hoodies, often with rolled-up sleeves.

Personality: One of the most striking examples of evolution in the series. He starts out as a typical bully and school bully: self-confident, selfish, and loving the spotlight. But gradually, his true colors emerge—responsible, caring, and incredibly brave. He becomes a "babysitter" for the younger kids (especially Dustin, with whom he develops an unexpectedly touching friendship). He maintains a gentle self-mockery, a sense of humor, and an outward swagger, but inside, he has a moral compass and a willingness to sacrifice himself for others. He's not without his flaws: he can be indecisive at times, and doesn't always believe in the supernatural right away, but he always comes to the rescue. He loves his bat with nails and constantly finds himself in situations where he gets beaten up by monsters (and he takes it all with humor).

Appearance: A slender, red-haired girl (long, often pulled back into a ponytail), with freckles and blue or green eyes (depending on the lighting). In the early seasons, she wears comfortable, athletic clothing: printed T-shirts (like "Thrasher"), plaid shirts over them, jeans, and skater shoes—her style emphasizes her "girly" side. She dislikes dresses and heavy makeup.

Personality: Sharp, sarcastic, and highly defensive. She hides her inner vulnerability behind brashness and indifference. She has a strong will and an independent streak: she chooses her own friends and isn't afraid to contradict her elders. She enjoys skateboarding, video games, and metal music (she's a fan of the band No Offense, but later in Season 4, she becomes depressed and withdrawn due to psychological trauma related to her family and the death of her brother). She's also a very loyal friend, especially to El, and the only girl in the "basement" group who accepts the rules of Dungeons & Dragons, but also openly pokes fun at them. Her main qualities are honesty and straightforwardness; she rarely minces her words.

Appearance: Dark-skinned, with short black hair and an athletic build. In the early seasons, he wears a bandana (often red), a denim jacket, and a backpack. Later, he wears more casual clothing (jackets, sweatshirts), and sometimes a plaid shirt. He grows noticeably taller and more mature.

Personality: Skeptical, pragmatic, and strong-willed. Initially, he approaches everything with distrust and rationality—he's the one who's been the longest in disbelieving Eleven's abilities. But at the same time, he's incredibly loyal to his friends and family. He's adept at calculating risks and often becomes the "voice of caution" in the group. Over time, he softens, learning to trust and accept the inexplicable. In later seasons, he's a reliable protector, bold and tactically minded. He enjoys practical jokes and the same comics as his friends, but is clearly the most level-headed of the group.

Appearance: Short and stocky, with curly red hair (due to a genetic disorder called cleidocranial dysplasia, which also causes him to be missing some teeth). In the early seasons, he wears a baseball cap with the Rink-O-Mania logo and brightly colored dinosaur T-shirts; later, he wears caps, plaid shirts, and sweatshirts. A notable accessory is his backwards cap.

Personality: Smart, sarcastic, and witty. The true "brains" of the group: a brilliant inventor and logician. He has a precocious sense of humor, loves to joke and tease his friends, but is also very loyal and empathetic. Unashamed of his appearance and habits, he's self-confident. He often acts as the voice of reason and saves situations with the help of science (a compass, a homemade beehive, etc.). He loves exotic animals (particularly dinosaurs and his ferret, Teploy).

Appearance: Short (early seasons) or slightly longer (later) dark hair, large brown eyes. Slim build. Distinguishing feature: a scar on his left wrist with the number "011." Often seen wearing a plaid shirt, jeans, and a long jacket. At important moments, he reverts to a boyish look—a flannel shirt over a T-shirt.

Personality: Raised in a lab without much interaction, she barely speaks at first—only gestures and short words. Patient, determined, and protective. Through her friendship with Mike and the others, she learns to be human: she displays stubbornness and teenage maximalism, but always puts the safety of her friends above herself. She's prone to impulsive behavior due to trauma. Deep down, she's kind, loving, and very self-critical. Her main desire is to protect those she loves and become "normal."

Appearance: Dark (in early seasons) or short-cropped brown hair, large, expressive eyes, and a lean build. In early seasons, he wears brightly colored jackets (orange, blue) and jeans; in later seasons, he wears more subdued, layered clothing, often with a turtleneck.

Personality: Kind, sensitive, vulnerable, and artistically gifted (draws). After returning from the Upside Down, he becomes quiet, withdrawn, and exhibits signs of PTSD: avoids loud noises and touches the back of his head. By the fourth season, he becomes more reserved and sad, but remains loyal and empathetic. He feels "weird" and "different," reflecting his internal struggle.

Appearance: Mike has dark brown curly hair and fair skin. In the early seasons, he has a neat haircut, which gets longer by the fourth season—he grew it out to emulate Eddie Munson (he later returns to a shorter haircut). He typically wears casual clothes: shirts, hoodies, and jeans.

Personality: From a young age, he proves himself to be a natural leader and "Dungeon Master" in their D&D group—creative, determined, and loyal to his friends. However, as he matures, he becomes more complex: stubborn, short-tempered, sometimes self-centered, and even rude to those close to him (especially Will). However, his defining traits are courage, loyalty, a deep emotional attachment to Eleven, and a penchant for self-sacrifice for his friends.

Appearance: A guy between 18 and 20 years old with a shock of long, black curls, pale skin, and a lean frame. He dresses in an '80s metal style: a leather jacket with patches (like Judas Priest), a denim jacket, chains, bandanas, and ripped jeans.

Personality: Eccentric, daring, and charismatic. A true "class clown" who covers up his insecurities with outrageous behavior. Behind his rebellious exterior lies a kind, loyal heart: he cares for the younger members (especially Dustin's group), is shy, and vulnerable. At critical moments, he displays true courage, sacrificing himself. A tragic hero with a terrific sense of humor and a love of metal culture.
