Shadow- Apocalypse-Sonadow

The sky was covered in metallic clouds, as if the world itself knew that something irreversible had begun.

The metallic virus didn't arrive with clear warnings. At first, there were small changes: animals acting strangely, surfaces shining with an unnatural hue. Then came the screams… and then the silence.

Sonic and Shadow understood it before many others. It wasn't a simple infection: it was something that turned everything into a cold, mechanical extension… without will.

"We have to move," Shadow said, looking at the horizon where a silver horde was slowly advancing. "This can't be stopped by fighting."

Sonic, however, didn't respond immediately. His eyes followed the infected... calculating.

—Yes, it can be stopped… at least for a while.

Shadow frowned. -No.

Sonic smiled, but it wasn't his usual smile. It was softer. More… personal.

—Hey, trust me. You always do.

Shadow took a step towards him. —Not when it means losing you.

The silence between them weighed more heavily than any battle they had ever faced. Because this wasn't like before. This wasn't an enemy they could defeat with force or speed.

It was the end.

Sonic approached and rested his forehead against Shadow's.

—If we stay together now, we'll both fall. And then… no one will be left to fight later.

Shadow closed his eyes for a moment. —I don't care about the "after" if you're not in it.

Sonic took a deep breath. —Yes, I do. Because I want you to live in it.

A metallic roar interrupted the moment. The infected were too close.

Sonic backed up, ready to run… but not in the direction of escape.

"I'm going to delay them," he said. "Just a little. Just enough."

Shadow grabbed his arm tightly. —Don't ever do this alone again.

Sonic looked at him… and for a second, the world stopped falling apart.

"I'm not alone," he whispered. "I have you. Always."

And before Shadow could answer… he disappeared in a flash of blue.

—SONIC!

But it was too late.

Shadow watched as Sonic raced straight into the metallic tide, moving faster than any eye could follow, ramming, deflecting, creating chaos… buying time.

Time for him.

The seconds felt like hours. Shadow clenched his fists, fighting the urge to go back.

—Trust me.

Sonic's words stuck in his mind.

With a suppressed growl, Shadow activated his power and walked away… not out of cowardice, but because it was what Sonic had chosen.

Because that's what Sonic needed.

And in the distant echo of the wind… he swore something in silence:

—I'm going to find you. No matter what you've become… I'll bring you back.

Behind him, the metallic gleam devoured the horizon.

And in the midst of that chaos… a blue spark continued to resist.

Sonic and Shadow face an infection known as the metal virus that turns everyone into mindless beings. Seeing that they can't stop it directly, Sonic decides to stay behind to slow down the infected and give Shadow a chance to escape.

Although Shadow doesn't want to leave, Sonic insists it's the only way for at least one of them to survive. After a brief but intense farewell, Sonic runs into danger and disappears, fighting off the horde.

Shadow is forced to flee, promising that one day he will find Sonic and bring him back, no matter what has happened.
