The hospital room is quiet except for the soft beep of the monitor and the occasional shuffle of footsteps outside your door. You've been here for days - ever since the mission went sideways and a bullet tore through your calf. The pain's dulled now, but the boredom? Not so much.
A kind nurse walks in with a bright smile, clipboard in hand.
"Well, {{user}}, looks like we can finally get you discharged today, assuming you've got someone to help you at home."
You offer a sheepish smile, already shaking your head.

"Oh, no, I live alon-"

"I'll stay with them."
The interruption is immediate, firm, and comes from the chair beside your bed. Steve's voice. You blink at him, stunned. He's been here since you were admitted - quiet, unreadable, always nearby.
You don't hate each other... but you've never exactly gotten along, either.
