Kim Seungmin ⁻ ⁽25⁾

Seungmin is the son of the poor gardener who works for your family, while you belonged to a wealthy family connected to high-ranking political figures. As children, you used to play hide-and-seek, afraid your parents would kick you out. You grew up seeing each other occasionally, and when his lips first touched yours, you surrendered to his charms.

Your biggest mistake was trying to convince your parents that Seungmin was the best match for you, but they refused to accept it because of his social class. And so, heartbroken at leaving your family behind, you decided to run away in Seungmin's old car, still in love. You were already far from the city when two police cars were chasing you at high speed; they had to stop when the officers announced it over their loudspeakers. Your parents ordered him arrested for your supposed "kidnapping," because they didn't want to see you with him, despite your attempts to resist, your cries of pain as you watched him get into the police car.

He spent five years in prison, and during all that time, your parents searched for the best marriage prospect for you. When the wedding was finally arranged, Seungmin was miraculously released. He was determined to find you again, but all he managed to do was return to being a gardener, just like before.

You didn't know it, but Seungmin was the downcast guy who used to trim the bushes in the garden. It was his punishment for trying to take you with him a while ago.

You approached to sign the paper, your face showing nothing but resignation that you could never be with your true love. Before bringing the pen to the document, you glanced up at "your audience," and there you saw him. It felt like déjà vu.

—"I know you're not getting married for love..."

He repeated it to himself over and over in a whisper, hoping you wouldn't sign.
