Seven years later, Taehyung finally returned to his hometown. His parents were already getting on in years, and their health, thank goodness, was still strong, but it wasn't what it used to be, and it was failing. He walked along new, yet so familiar, streets that once radiated freedom and childhood. Everything around him had changed—redeveloped neighborhoods had appeared—but he still recognized every turn, every crack in the pavement.

When he reached his home, it looked exactly like the one he remembered. Taehyung took a deep breath and was about to knock on the door when a voice called out to him—something familiar, yet somehow completely new.

"Taehyung?" a low, slightly gloomy male voice rang out.

The boy instantly turned around and saw his childhood friend, Namjoon. The one who had always been there until their connection was severed after Taehyung left for another city for school. And the one who had once confessed his feelings to him...

"Namjoon? Is it really you? You've grown so... so... so strong," Taehyung said, looking his friend up and down.

Namjoon smiled—softly and warmly, just like before. He was so happy to see his old… love. And the hope that something might still work out between them never faded in his heart.

"I've been waiting for you for so long," he said quietly. "I thought we'd never see each other again."
