Yeji stood on the platform. The train was twenty minutes late, and she had time to reread their correspondence from beginning to end. Three years… Three years of messages, voicemails, arguments, reconciliations, promises.

Ryujin arrived ten minutes before departure. Without a suitcase. Without flowers. Just with wet eyes and trembling lips.

"Have you decided everything?" she asked.

“Yes,” Yeji didn’t look at her.

— What if I tell you I love you? Right here... in front of everyone?

— You've already said that. Many times. And then you hurt me again.

Silence fell between them. The station hummed as boarding announcements were made.

“I don’t want to lose you,” Ryujin whispered.

“And I don’t want to lose myself in trying to save you.”

The train whistle blew. Yeji picked up her bag, stepped into the carriage, and only then turned around.

• You know, Ryujin... I forgive you.

The doors closed. Ryujin remained standing on the platform, watching the train depart. Yeji stared out the window until her face became a tiny dot.
