/Late Night at the Bar/ (Odazai)
5k
Another workday at the VDA (do they even have days off?). It was autumn. October. The leaves were awash with colors, children were strolling through Yokohama, mischievous laughter could be heard, but also some people were rushing to work, going to the shops, young mothers pushing their children in strollers. Everything was as usual in Japan: noisy and, for now, calm.
Dazai quickly and quietly left the agency office and decided to take a stroll. As he strolled the streets, he couldn't help but notice how lively everything had become. It was a bit unexpected. After a while, Osamu reached a bar. The thought crossed his mind: "Maybe I should go in?... Just have a drink..." After standing in the autumn breeze for a while, he went inside.
There was gambling going on inside the establishment, it was not very clean, and the staff did not greet the guests.
Dazai walked up to the bar, sat down on a stool, it had one leg, and ordered himself a regular wine, but...
Dazai took a sip and winced slightly, apparently already a little tipsy. He turned to the staff, who dismissed his complaint with displeasure. They couldn't care less about the customers.
After sitting there for a while, Osamu heard a sound. Something crashed. A table fell, at which three drunk men and a young woman were sitting. One of the men knocked the table over and started yelling at the woman. She looked frightened by it all. She was already regretting sitting at the same table with them. The waitress (sulky and apparently also slightly stoned) started yelling in a hoarse, slightly drunken voice:
Waitress: Hey, hey! Hey! What are you... What are you doing... Man?!
Fyodor Dostoevsky
Fyodor Dostoevsky's ability is called "Crime and Punishment".
How it works
: Capture the Body of a Killer. The ability is activated when someone kills Dostoevsky: at this moment, he transfers his consciousness into the body of the killer and completely subdues it, turning the person into a copy of himself. Therefore, Fyodor is almost immortal - even after death, he continues to exist in another body.
No need for direct contact. You don't need physical contact to activate the ability: the mere fact of killing is enough.
Why it breaks the logic of investigations
Opposes Rampo's "Superdeduction". Because of Dostoevsky's ability, crime becomes "ideal": the very fact of murder is erased from the logic of reality, because the murderer ceases to be himself and becomes Fyodor. Therefore, Rampo cannot solve such crimes - evidence and motives cease to make sense.
Connection with the character of the character. Fyodor sees himself as a judge who cleanses the world of sins, and his ability emphasizes this idea: everyone who decides to kill himself becomes part of this "punishment".
The ability is called "crime and punishment" due to the fact that Fyodor considers the person who tried to kill him a crime, and he himself is a punishment.
Edogawa Rampo
History
Origin: Rampo grew up in the countryside near Yokohama. His father was a well-known detective (he was called "Clairvoyant"), and his mother was a housewife, who, according to her son, was even smarter. Both parents died when Rampo was 14 years old.
After the tragedy: at the insistence of his father, he went to a big city to study at the police academy. Because of his parent's merits, he was accepted, but he did not study for long: Rampo was expelled for breaking the rules, and was evicted from the dormitory for speaking out about the commandant's inappropriate behavior. After that, he worked as a letter delivery man and a poster of advertisements. Meeting Fukuzawa: One day, while looking for a job, Rampo found himself at the scene of a murder. The victim was a client of Yukichi Fukuzawa (then he worked as a bodyguard). Rampo easily figured out the killer, and Fukuzawa was indebted to him. To calm the boy (who was afraid of being misunderstood because of his genius), Yukichi said that he had a supernatural ability. This calmed Rampo, and he became attached to the thought. Creation of the Agency: Fukuzawa realized that due to his "ability", Rampo would be a target for others, and for his safety, he created the "Armed Detective Agency". In it, espers could use their powers to defend themselves, and Rampo's intelligence provided the technical side of investigations.
Rampo Edogawa's ability is called "Superdeduction".
How it works
Instant revelation of truth. Rampo can reconstruct the entire picture of a crime in seconds just by looking at the scene. He sees connections between the smallest details, determines motives, names the criminal, and even suggests where to look for evidence.
"Activates" the ability. In order to "turn on" his super-deduction, Rampo puts on black glasses that Yukichi Fukuzawa gave him. This is more of a psychological ritual: glasses help him tune in and feel like a real esper.
Does not work against Perfect Crime. Powerless before the ability of Fyodor Dostoevsky.
Edogawa Rampo
Appearance
Height: 168 cm - below average, which makes him seem younger than his years from the outside, especially given his infantile behavior.
Hair: short, black. It seems that they were cut without a mirror. Eyes: unusual, narrow, with a green tint.
Clothing: Often wears a brown poncho (it matches the hat and pants). Underneath is a dark gray jacket, a white shirt, and a dark blue striped tie. The trousers are complemented by long white three-quarter-length socks and black shoes. In general, the image is a little reminiscent of the Sherlock Holmes costume. Detail: When Rampo "activates" his "ability", he wears black glasses. They were given to him by Yukichi Fukuzawa.
Character
Rampo has a rather contradictory image:
He is very proud of himself and often brags, calling himself "the greatest detective in the world".
He has a childlike spontaneity: in the fifth episode, he openly teases the other members of the Armed Detective Agency.
At the same time, when the matter is serious and friends are in danger, he is able to become imperturbable and calculating.
He is not inclined to listen to other people's advice, he takes on only those things that really fascinate him.
He has funny habits: he can call someone a "fool" or a "moron", and he also condescendingly pats people on the head, not taking into account their status. He is a big lover of sweets (especially sweet red beans).
At the same time, Rampo does not like what he considers trivial: common sense, useless knowledge.
Another funny detail: he suffers from topographical cretinism - he can get lost if he does not use his "superdeduction".
Atsushi Nakajima
Atsushi
spent his childhood in an orphanage, where he faced abuse: he was systematically humiliated, beaten, and often blamed by other children. The reason for this attitude was his ability "Beast of Moonlight" (originally "Moon Beast"). He unknowingly turned into a white tiger in the moonlight, which caused destruction in the shelter. Shortly before the main events, Atsushi was kicked out of the orphanage. For some time, he wandered, suffered from hunger, and then in Yokohama he saved Osamu Dazai, who was trying to commit suicide. It was Dazai and the other members of the agency who revealed the truth to Atsushi: he was an esper, and the tiger he was running away from was himself.
Atsushi Nakajima
Appearance
Hair: ash-blonde with a lavender tint. A characteristic detail: on the right side of the face, the hair is short, and on the left side it is long, with a noticeable black stripe. Eyes: segmental heterochromia - the upper half of the iris is purple, the lower half is yellow.
Skin: pale.
Build: medium height, thin.
Clothing: Before joining the Armed Detective Agency, he wore gray clothes from the orphanage (sweater, pants, pumps). After joining the agency, the wardrobe changed: a white shirt with sleeves rolled up to the elbows, a black tie, black pants, boots, fingerless gloves, suspenders and a long black belt (it was given to Osamu Dazai).
Transformation: When Atsushi partially transforms into a tiger, his eyes change, fangs and tiger stripes appear. With a complete transformation, the limbs turn into tigers, and a tail grows. Over time, he learned to control the force better.
Personality
: Atsushi has a complex and contradictory character. On the one hand, due to a difficult past, he is extremely insecure, fixated on the past and often makes bad decisions due to low self-esteem. He tends to blame himself, doubt his own value and put someone else's opinion above his own. On the other hand, at critical moments, he is capable of brave actions: for the sake of others, he is ready to risk his life. At the same time, Atsushi does not tolerate when someone is bullied - this is due to his own experience as an outcast. As the plot develops, he gradually overcomes internal barriers, learns to accept himself and his past.
Doppo Kunikida
Appearance
Height: 189 cm.Weight
: 78 kg.Blood
type: A (II).
Birthday: August 30.
Hair: golden blonde, neatly combed to the right, gathered in a long ponytail, but there are also protruding strands.
Eyes: deep gray-green.
Glasses: always wears.
Clothing: a beige vest over a black long-sleeved shirt, a red ribbon tied with a bow around the collar, beige pants, and plain brown shoes.
Character
Seriousness and responsibility. Kunikida is very professional and diligent in his work, for him the reputation of the agency is above all.
Need for organization. He constantly strives to plan, collect data, and make schedules, which can make him seem strict and harsh during investigations.
Reliability and loyalty. Despite his strictness, Kunikida is a reliable detective who is relied upon by many in the agency due to his authoritative abilities and responsible nature.
The value of human life. He seeks to save innocent people and does not consider killing opponents the only way out, preferring to solve problems without bloodshed.
Temper. Kunikida can be irritable, especially due to the antics of his partner Dazai.
Naivety. He tends to easily believe Dazai's lies, which he then writes down in his notebook for future reference.
Ability: Doppo Poetry (独歩吟客, Doppo Ginkaku) allows Kunikide to turn words in his notebook into real objects while maintaining their functions. Limitation: the size of the created item must not exceed the size of the notebook page.
Previously, Kunikida worked as a mathematics teacher.
Sigma
The "Information Exchange" ability
. Sigma can communicate with anyone it touches. The exchange is that the person gets access to the personal data they want to know, and Sigma gets access to the personal data they want to know.
Skills:
Leadership qualities. Sigma knows how to competently distribute tasks among subordinates, while taking care of their customers.
Memory. He is able to remember the names and character traits of a large number of guests (up to 20,000 people).
He was killed by Fyodor Dostoevsky.
Sigma
Appearance
Height: 177 cm.Weight
: 62 kg.Eye
color: light gray.
Hair: long, waist-length. The left side is lilac, the right side is platinum. The hair is parted in the middle of the face.
Clothing: a long white coat with a shiny or galactic pattern in the interior and black pants.
Accessories: earrings in both ears.
Character:
Customer care. Sigma shows kindness to the visitors of his casino, ready to give them another chance.
A sense of ownership. For him, the casino is not just a business, but the meaning of life. He refuses to close the establishment, fearing that someone else will be able to take credit for his success.
Inconsistency. In the presence of subordinates, Sigma behaves confidently and calmly, creating the image of an ideal manager. However, when alone, he begins to panic and admits that he is not confident in his skills due to his lack of natural talents.
Despair. Sigma has no memories, no family, and no friends, so his main desire is to find meaning in life. Fyodor Dostoevsky called him "relentless" because Sigma is a desperate man.
History
Origin. Sigma is a fictional hero whose fate was recorded in the "Book". When he first opened his eyes, he was surrounded by a vast desert, and all he had was his clothes and a train ticket from a non-existent station.
Early years. Confused, he wandered through the desert until he was captured by an armed group. There he discovered an ability in himself and subsequently used it to his advantage. After escaping, Sigma continued to wander nihilistically, not knowing the purpose of his existence.
Joining the organization. Fyodor Dostoevsky invited him to join "The Death of the Celestials". Sigma was assigned to run the Sky Casino, a job that gave him a sense of purpose. Mission. One of Sigma's tasks was to steal a "page" from the "Book". He successfully dealt with it by meeting with the director of the Special Division of Unusual Abilities, Santoka Taneda.
Fyodor Dostoevsky
In the past, he has had clashes with the Armed Detective Agency: according to Ranpo, the last time they met, the organization was almost destroyed, and one of its members was killed.
Prior to the three-way war between the organizations, he temporarily worked with the Esper Guild. His motive was personal—he was looking for a certain book, which Fitzgerald was also looking for.
He is the leader of the former criminal organization "Rats of the House of the Dead" and at the same time is part of the group "Death of the Celestials".
His ability is called "Crime and Punishment". The ability allows him to deal damage to opponents, and there are hints that it does not necessarily require bodily contact.
Fyodor Dostoevsky
Fyodor is a tall and slender young man. He has shoulder-length black hair and long bangs that cover his forehead and bridge of his nose. His eyes are dark purple, narrow, and almost always half-closed, which often causes him to look tired, thoughtful. In clothing, he prefers a rather unusual, "official" style:
a shirt similar to a caftan, with a high collar, fastened in front with five buttons; on the side and hem there are light purple stripes ("embroidery");
white trousers;
a long coat (black or white) trimmed with white fur;
a white hat with earflaps;
high red boots.
There are also small details: he has a habit of biting his nails and skin on his fingers, which often causes them to bleed. He also plays the cello.
Dostoevsky's
personality is contradictory. On the one hand, he is calm, confident and cool. He is a master manipulator of people, sees through other people's thoughts and motives, has a photographic memory and outstanding strategic skills. He is not afraid of enemies and is ready to take risks for the sake of his plans.
On the other hand, he is extremely arrogant and straightforward. He sincerely believes in his own philosophy and puts it above morality and human life. Dostoevsky constantly discusses the sinful nature of man and sees himself as the executor of the higher will. At the same time, his actions are cruel and ruthless.
Other characters react to this in their own way, with Osamu Dazai calling him "The Demon" and mentioning that he has met him in the past. Enemies generally perceive him as a sinister, frightening creature.
Among other traits: he passionately loves apples and is fond of chess.
Nikolai Gogol
Gogol has white hair combed on the left side of his face, and a long braid that often falls on his right shoulder. His eyes are of different colors: the left one is purple, the right one is green. A black scar runs vertically through the left eye. The right eye appears blank, with no glare, which may indicate blindness. Above the right eye, there is probably a mask in the form of a map or a bandage.
His outfit is eccentric and resembles the image of a circus arena inspector. Gogol wears mostly a black cloak (the right side of which is all black), black and white striped trousers, a shirt with a ruffled round collar that looks like a loose intricate turtleneck, dark gloves, and a top hat with a diamond pattern.
The character
of Gogol is presented as a cheerful person with sadistic tendencies. He likes to ask others questions (often in the form of rhetorical threats or "quizzes") and immediately answer them himself. His behavior is often crazy and theatrical.
He claims that he understands that killing people is bad, but he likes the feeling of absolute freedom. He dreams of becoming free, like a bird, and says that the skull is a cell from which he wants to flutter.
Gogol is skilled at disguising himself: for example, he disguised himself as a policeman to approach the car with Mushitaro Oguri, or for six months he posed as Tonan's secretary.
bungostraydogs.fandom.com He believes that only Fyodor Dostoevsky can understand him, and calls him "Dos-kun".
History
Nikolai Gogol is one of the five members of the organization "Death of the Celestials". His ability is called "The Overcoat" (the anime uses the word "cape"). It allows him to manipulate space with a cloak, acting as a portal: moving objects and people up to 30 meters away. For example, he can "cut off" a part of the opponent's body, keeping it in a separate space.
Ryunosuke Akutagawa
Before
joining the Port Mafia, Akutagawa was an orphan and lived in a slum called "At the Bottom", where he fought for survival. He and about eight other children found themselves in a difficult situation.
One day, his comrades overheard a conversation about the time and place of delivery of cargo to the Port Mafia. The men found the children and killed everyone except Ryunosuke and his younger sister Gin. After that, Akutagawa experienced a strong emotion for the first time - hatred. He was later recruited by the mafia, probably because of his ability. He became a student of Dazai, who taught him quite harshly. Dazai criticized Akutagawa for his lack of variety in the use of abilities and rash impulses.
During the Port Mafia's war with Mimik, Akutagawa confesses to killing captured soldiers. Dazai reprimands him for his penchant for killing instead of getting information about his opponent first. At one point, Dazai even threatens him and shoots him, but at the last moment, Akutagawa activates his ability Rashomon: Rip Space, saving his life. After Dazai left the mafia, Akutagawa began to pursue all the surviving soldiers of the organization in order to force Dazai to recognize him.
Ability: Rashomon allows you to transform your clothes (including your coat) into a black beast that can devour everything, including space.
Ryunosuke Akutagawa
Akutagawa has a thin build and very pale skin. He often covers his face with his hand due to coughing fits. He has short black hair with side bangs that reach his chin and turn gray at the ends. The eyes are deep-set, narrow, dark gray in color. He usually wears a long black coat below the knees, black tight-fitting pants, and black shoes. Underneath the coat is a white shirt with multi-layered corrugated fabric and a white jabot. On a day off, he wears a simple black coat and tinted rimless glasses.
Akutagawa has a gloomy, pessimistic view of the world. He adheres to the idea of "survival of the fittest" and believes that weak people should give way to stronger ones. He is ruthless and willing to commit violent crimes in order to achieve goals, both personal and organizational. He calls himself the "dog" of the Port Mafia and demonstrates a willingness to carry out cruel orders. At the same time, he does not like senseless torture and prefers to kill with one blow whenever possible.
Although he is reserved and detached in communication, his self-control is fragile. He shows hostility to both subordinates and superiors, distancing himself from social interactions. His relationship with his former mentor, Osamu Dazai, is complicated: he both respects him and considers him unworthy, but desperately craves his recognition and approval.
Chuya Nakahara
History
The story of Chui is closely related to the ancient deity Arahabaki. About fifteen years ago, he had become a vessel for this creature. When Arthur Rimbaud tried to use the power of Arabhabaki, he accidentally broke the seal and the deity merged with Chuya. As a result, both the vessel and the god lost memories of the events before the age of seven. Chuya remembered only the blue-black darkness around the sealed object and someone's hand that freed him. Since then, his goal has been to find out the truth about his origins. Later, Chuya joined the Sheep group. He was a member of their "council" and through his "Vague Sorrow" ability, he became a key figure in the organization. Many people mistakenly called him the "King of the Sheep", although formally he was not. When the Sheep were attacked by the Port Mafia, Chuya tracked down the culprits. During the investigation, he encountered Dazai and Ryūro Hirotsu. Later, Mori Ogai invited Chuyu to the Mafia to be used in the investigation of the Arahabaki case. In order to keep Chūya from escaping, Mori took the Sheep hostage and assigned Dazai to him, forcing them to work together, although they initially did not get along.
Abilities
His ability is called "Vague Sorrow". It allows you to manipulate gravity: Chuya can change the weight of objects on contact. The ability has two forms of activation:
Normal - allows you to manipulate gravity in battle.
"Corruption" is a true, extremely dangerous form. When it is activated (Chuya utters the phrase: "Oh, givers of dark disgrace, do not disturb me again"), he loses control: strange signs appear on his body, blood is flowing. In this state, he can increase the density of his own body to the point where he is able to break through a tank with his bare hands, or create compacted black holes. If you don't stop Corruption in time (only Dazai can do that), Chuya will burn his strength until he dies.
Chuya Nakahara
Chuya is a young man of short stature, but with a rather muscular build. He has bright red (orange-red) hair that frames his face. One strand is longer than the rest and falls just below the left shoulder - Chuya often gathers her hair in a ponytail and combs it to the left side. The eyes are blue. A black hat with a red ribbon and a thin silver chain hanging from the brim. This hat was given to him by the boss of the Port Mafia, Mori Ogai, when he joined the organization. Choker around the neck with a silver buckle. Black gloves - he almost never takes them off (with the exception of activating Corruption). A long black coat with light lining and lapels, which he throws over his shoulders like a cape.
At
first glance, Chuya seems to be a temperamental, rather arrogant and rude person. He really enjoys fighting, is proud of his reputation as the strongest martial artist of the Port Mafia, and does not shy away from sarcastic remarks about opponents right during a fight.
But behind this temper hides a more complex personality. When he is not under pressure, he shows prudence and the ability to analyze the situation. At the same time, he is devoted to those whom he considers his own, and does not tolerate betrayal. Although he is willing to eliminate enemies of the Mafia, he is not inclined to unnecessary bloodshed in tactics and knows how to find compromises. One of the most striking lines is his complicated relationship with Osamu Dazai. In the past, they were partners (they were called "Double Black" / Soukoku) and constantly quarreled. Chuya hated Dazai's strategic, "perverse" nature, who often ridiculed him. However, despite the quarrels, Chūya recognizes Dazai's tactical genius and trusts him deep down.
Other traits include a love of hats, music, and alcohol (while he gets drunk quickly).
Dazai Osamu
The key moment that forced Dazai to leave the mafia was the death of his only close friend, Oda Sakunosuke. He was killed during a conflict between the mafia and the Mimic organization, which was set up by Mori Ogai. Dazai realized that his boss had purposefully sent his friend on a suicidal attack.
Ability
His ability is called "Inferior Human" (sometimes translated as "No Longer Human"). It allows Dazai to neutralize another esper's abilities through direct physical contact. This force has a significant disadvantage: it does not work at a distance.
Prior
to joining the Armed Detective Agency, Dazai was one of the five leaders of the Port Mafia Executive Committee and Ogai Mori's right-hand man. He became the youngest leader in the history of the mafia and was considered a living legend. In those years, it brought the organization about half of its total profit. In addition to leadership, Dazai became famous for extremely cruel interrogation methods. He also applied harsh teaching methods to Ryunosuke Akutagawa.
Dazai Osamu
Dazai is a young man with partially wavy, short dark brown hair and narrow dark brown eyes. Bangs frame the face, and some strands are gathered in the center of the forehead. He is quite tall and slender. Dazai usually wears a long sand-colored coat with a black vest underneath over a striped blue shirt. He also uses a bolo tie, which is held in place by a brown ribbon with a turquoise pendant, as well as beige pants and dark brown boots. An important detail: almost the entire body of Dazai is wrapped in bandages - except for his face, arms and legs. Underneath them are numerous scars from unsuccessful suicide attempts. When Dazai was in the Port Mafia, he wore a long black cloak down to his knees, as well as bandages over his right eye and a sling on his right arm.
Character
Dazai's personality is contradictory: behind the external quarrelsomeness and cheerfulness there is a deep internal drama.
Mystery and unpredictability. His true motives are rarely revealed until he wants to.
Self-sufficiency and a tendency to dramatization. He often turns everything into a joke, which makes it difficult to know when he is serious.
Love for self-destructive behavior. Dazai regularly makes suicide attempts, which becomes his "calling card" and often becomes a reason for conflicts with colleagues.
Sharp mind and cunning. Despite his frivolity, he has brilliant detective skills: he quickly analyzes the situation, builds complex multi-move combinations and predicts people's actions.
Calm in battle. Even in the most hopeless situations, he keeps his cool.
Attitude to the partner. Especially often, he makes fun of Kunikida Doppo: he says important things to write down in a notebook, and after his partner follows the instructions, Dazai declares that everything was a lie. Because of this, Kunikida dislikes him and regularly scolds him.

Port Mafia
The Port Mafia (Pōto Mafia?) is an underground criminal organization led by Ougai Mori and based in Yokohama, Japan. They hold a business permit, allowing them to conduct their activities legally. The Port Mafia is also known as Yokohama's "Guardians of the Night." According to Ichiyo Higuchi, the Mafia owns dozens of businesses under its control. Members of the Mafia also rise in politics and economics, wielding influence over the most prominent figures in Yokohama, who aid the organization in every way. Those who challenged them deeply regretted their actions.
The Port Mafia is reportedly involved in trafficking organs, chemical weapons, and criminal personnel. They exclusively deal in illegal products for shadowy organizations and are considered the main trading company of the criminal underworld. They also monitor countless shady operations and establish connections with criminal organizations worldwide. All their reports are printed in a special ink, the text of which is written in a special code. If one of these reports were ever to fall into the hands of the police, it could not be used as evidence of a crime.
Before the Mafia expanded its territory and received permission to do business, Osamu Dazai mentioned that they did not interfere with the drug industry.
He also noted that the Special Unit for the Study of Unusual Abilities, the Narcotics Bureau, and the Military Police Anti-Organization Committee were waiting for the Port Mafia to make such a grave mistake, creating more trouble for the drug industry than it was worth. Leader: Ogai Mori.
Directors: Chuya Nakahara, Koyo Ozaki, Paul Verlaine.
Black Lizards (Assault Unit): Ryuro Hirotsu (Commander), Gin Akutagawa, Tachihara Michizō.
Other key members: Ryunosuke Akutagawa, Motojiro Kaji, Kyusaku Yumeno, Ichiyo Higuchi, Alice.
Death of the Celestials
Some members: Bram Stoker, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Nikolai Gogol, Sigma. The Death of the Celestials (天人五衰, Tennin Gosui?), also known as the Assassination Society, are terrorists lurking in the shadows of this world. The Five who proclaim the end of the heavenly kingdom. Influence
One of them has the ability to instantly swap "the information the other person most wants to know" for "the information the esper most wants to obtain." They used Oguri's ability in this way to find all the lost evidence on Dazai Osamu and other criminals whose evidence had been lost in the past.
Using information stolen from Tonan's special department in this way, Dostoevsky's organization obtained one of the pages of that very coveted reality-altering book.
With their intelligence and abilities, the Assassin Society, and Gogol in particular, managed to infiltrate and pose as a government member of the Department of Special Abilities, providing the society with vital information while concealing the deeper details of their actions, which were later revealed by Ango Sakaguchi. Nevertheless, they were able to manipulate members of the Ministry of Justice, and most likely several other "important" officials.
With their power and several government agencies, the Assassin Society aims to completely destroy the Armed Detective Agency.
Interesting facts
All members of this organization were believed to be of Russian origin until this theory was refuted by the identification of Fukuchi as a member of Japanese origin and Stoker as a member of Irish origin.
The organization called "Assassination Society/Death of the Celestials" takes its name from Yukio Mishima's novel "Angel Has Fallen," which was published in 1971 and was the final installment of the "Sea of Fertility" tetralogy.
Rats of the House of the Dead
Not much is known about this organization. Its leader, Fyodor Dostoevsky, wants to purge the world of espers and therefore decided to pit the Port Mafia and the Detective Agency against each other after the Guild's collapse (he annoyed the Guild during the three-way conflict). According to Dazai, their goal is "the book," but to obtain the book, they must exterminate the espers in Yokohama, but they don't have the Guild's power to incinerate the entire city. Therefore, they use assassinations to decapitate the armed detective agency and the mafia. Known members
