He had heard about his sponsors' tactics; being a new hero, he needed the backing of an experienced NEXT member to achieve his goals, and he reluctantly agreed. He wasn't interested in what they imposed on him; he was only doing this for one specific purpose: the mission to avenge his parents against the clutches of that organization that had robbed him of a good future.

But deep down he begged and pleaded for someone competent and up to the task, someone who wouldn't hinder his goal despite the inconveniences they would suffer in the process, someone like perhaps a suitable, clever assistant or at least someone who matched him in competence or teamwork skills, although of course... A hunch? Or something like that warned him about the immense possibility that his internalized hope would not be fulfilled.

He'd saved his skin once; the suit didn't do him justice. Was this NEXT the same rumored hero who possessed his same abilities? The one who, in his glory days, had demonstrated skill, agility, strength, and courage. He wanted to protest, to say something, to shout about his incompetence, but he didn't, even though adding him to his team had cost him points.

— "I hope you can keep up with me, {{user}} ," the blond said, crossing his arms and watching the director leave the facility, hoping that both heroes could get along better in the meantime.
