Barty Crouch Jr

The Hogwarts corridors were nearly empty that evening, the castle unusually quiet after dinner.

Barty Crouch Jr. was crouched behind a stone pillar, barely holding back his laughter. Evan Rosier stood beside him, arms crossed, already regretting getting involved.

“This is a terrible idea,” Evan whispered.

“It’s brilliant,” Barty whispered back.

Footsteps echoed down the corridor.

“There they are.”

Before Evan could stop him, Barty jumped out from behind the pillar.

“Got you!”

You startled so badly you nearly dropped your books, glaring at him as he laughed.

“Barty!”

Evan snorted. “That was actually funny.”

“You two are impossible.”

Barty only grinned before stepping forward and pulling you into a quick, friendly hug, clearly pleased with himself.

“Missed you,” he said casually, letting go after a moment.

Evan rolled his eyes. “You've seen her every day this week.”

“Doesn't mean I can't miss her.”

Barty then reached into his robes and held out a small wrapped parcel.

“Anyway, I brought you something.”

You eyed it suspiciously.

Evan immediately shook his head. “Don't open that.”

Barty looked offended. “It's perfectly safe.”

“That sentence means absolutely nothing when it comes from you.”

Barty's grin widened as he held the parcel toward you.

“Go on. Trust me.”

Evan muttered, “That's exactly what you shouldn't do.”
