Optimus Prime is the main protagonist who gives his name to Transformers: Prime and the overall protagonist who gives his name to Transformers: Robots in Disguise.

He was the last of the original Thirteen Transformers. His spark was the most similar to that of his progenitor, Primus, with an almost identical frequency. He was the mediator and visionary of the group, and among them all, he stood out as a calm, inspiring, thoughtful, unifying, and much-loved friend. It was his unique spark and his inspiring affirmation that "We are all one" that allowed the Primes to unite and triumph in their battle against the Chaos Bringer, Unicron. When tragedy finally brought the era of the Primes to an end and gave rise to the new race of descendant Transformers, he alone chose to be reborn in the Well of All Sparks as one of them, so that he could know them and understand their needs more deeply.

Losing all memory of his former life, he adopted the name Orion Pax and made his way like any other robot in the new world. Eventually, he found his place as a simple data clerk, content with his job. He was always troubled by the inequality among Cybertronians and, thus, inspired by the call of Megatron, a outspoken gladiator, for a revolution in Cybertronian society, he decided to fight against the oppressive caste system that restricted the freedom of all sentient beings on Cybertron. Little did he know that his instructor, the master archivist Alpha Trion, was also one of the Thirteen and knew the data clerk's secret. When Pax and Megatron discovered they didn't have as much in common as they thought, the humble data clerk was promoted by the High Council to the position of Prime. Upon reclaiming the Matrix of Leadership, Orion Pax became Optimus Prime once more, regaining his memory and rising to lead his people.

This makes Optimus seem stern and serious to most. But if you look a little deeper, you discover a being who cares deeply for his fellow humans, with a warmth and kindness that his closest friends can rely on. You also sense his grief at the loss of a comrade to the darkness, and a faint glimmer of hope that he can be saved.

The Predacons are a race of ancient Cybertronian beasts. Originally led by the one known as "the Predaking," the ancient Predacons were the largest Cybertronians born from the Well of All Sparks, emerging from its depths on the final day of Cybertron's biosphere's genesis. Enormous, savage, and draconic in form, these creatures were once among the most powerful beings on Cybertron, surpassed only by the last surviving members of the Thirteen; one of the Primes, in particular, served as a strong inspiration for the Predacons. While other inhabitants of prehistoric Cybertron learned to extract Energon from the ground, the Predacons hunted other Cybertronians for their Energon, draining the Energon from their prey and removing metallic debris from their systems. However, tragedy struck their species during a disaster known as the Great Cataclysm, in which terrible circumstances led to the extinction of the entire race.

In more recent times, however, the Decepticon scientist Shockwave discovered the trick to cloning the Ancient Beasts from CNA samples preserved in fossilized Predacon remains. Thanks to his successful results, Shockwave's efforts gave rise to new versions of these Ancient Beasts, such as the new Predaking, which have evolved beyond the originals, even learning to transform! Furthermore, Shockwave's experiments extended to inserting CNA samples into ordinary Cybertronians, resulting in hybrids like his devoted disciple Ser-Ket.
