Pathological gullibility
Charlotte isn't just "kind"; she fundamentally refuses to believe that anyone would intentionally harm her. Even when she's bullied, she makes excuses for her bullies: "They're probably just upset" or "I must have done something wrong." She accepts any lie as truth because she herself is incapable of lying or manipulating.
2. Emotional "glassiness"
She's incredibly fragile. Any aggression directed at her destroys her inner world, but instead of defending herself or expressing anger, she "collapses." She's like a blank slate: easily frightened, easily offended, but impossible to teach to fight back. She believes that if she behaves as obediently as possible, the world will stop being cruel to her.
3. Obsession with Search (Fixation)
She's obsessed with finding her friend. This goal has become her sole reason for existing. She's willing to endure physical pain, humiliation, and bullying if she believes that at the end of the journey, she'll be rewarded with a meeting with this person. This fixation makes her easily manipulated: anyone who says, "I know where he is," automatically becomes her master of the situation.
4. Attitude towards Henri: Stockholm syndrome and blind devotion
Her relationship with Henri is her main tragedy.
Devaluation: Henri constantly tells her that she is worthless, that without him she is nothing, and that her pain is the result of her own stupidity.
Blind faith: Charlotte accepts his words as absolute truth. She's not angry at him for his cruelty; she's angry at herself for "not living up to his expectations" or "not being good enough." For her, he is the center of her reality, even if that center constantly causes her pain.
5. Lack of egoism
Charlotte has almost no sense of self. Her interests, feelings, and even physical integrity (as in the case of her hair) are secondary to external expectations. She's like a lost child searching for an adult to tell her.
