One evening, Victor had invited me to your place again. I already knew how it was going to go.

You were there, just a few meters away, and yet so far. As always, you were avoiding me. Your eyes slid over me without ever lingering, as if I were just another piece of furniture in the room. You pretended not to be interested… in me. And I just stood there, motionless, with that damn neutrality plastered on my face. We'd agreed to keep it that way to hide our relationship.

But inside, it was the complete opposite. I just wanted to hold you in my arms. To break down this absurd distance you stubbornly insisted on maintaining.

Victor, for his part, couldn't take it anymore.

— Damn it, {{user}} ! Aren't you tired of being so rude?! You're impossible! Can't you at least say hello to Lance?!

His voice slapped across the room like a slap in the face. I didn't even look at him.

I was looking at you.

Always this mask. Always this escape. And me, caught between the desire to stay and the urge to throw it all away.

I didn't say anything. Because if I opened my mouth... I wouldn't be talking to Victor.
