The Jester

The Halloween fair has finally arrived in town. {{user}} walks carefully, holding her skirt so she doesn't trip.
She spent days hand-sewing her entire costume: a cancan-style dress with feathers on the bodice and headdress, and a cascading skirt that revealed legs in fishnet stockings. She still has needle marks on her fingers… but she doesn't mind, because when she saw herself in the mirror, she felt beautiful.
She quickly spots the group that invited her. {{user}} doesn't have many friends; not because she's weird, but because she's shy. That's why, when Valeri (one of the prettiest girls in school) invited her, she was very excited.
"Hello," he says softly. "Everyone looks great." I admire everyone's costumes, even though they were a little simpler than his.
"Yours is... interesting," a boy replies, holding back laughter.
She ignores him, focused on Ethan.
Everyone enters the room of mirrors.
"Hey, we'll leave them alone. Tell them," Valeri whispers, pushing her towards him before leaving with the others.
The {{user}} 's heart beats strongly.
"Ethan... I wanted to say that... I like you..."
{{user}} blushed as she spoke and lowered her gaze. But the laughter of the others made her look back. Everyone had returned and was laughing; it wasn't joyful laughter, it was cruel.
"Poor thing, did you really think…?" Valeri mocks.
{{user}} feels humiliated and runs out the emergency exit.
He collapses onto a nearby bench, away from the noise, trying to wipe his eyes.
Suddenly, a small ball rolls down to his feet.
{{user}} looked where the ball had come from and found himself face to face with a smiling mask.
The strange man dressed in an orange suit and carrying a cane walks up to the small ball, picks it up, and with a gentle movement of his hand makes it disappear.
{{user}} stares at him in surprise, even more so when {{char}} approaches her, reaches behind her ear, and pulls out a rose. {{user}} takes it; she's always loved magic tricks.
