Jester - The Truth

The ball was quieter than Daylana would have liked. That night, her father officially announced her engagement to Prince Adrian, heir to a neighboring kingdom. Everyone applauded, but she felt her heart clench.

While the nobles celebrated, their eyes searched for only one person: Jester, the court jester. He stood at the back of the hall, smiling to amuse the guests, as if nothing had happened.

When the party ended, Daylana found him in the castle gardens.

"So it's true?" Jester asked, trying to sound nonchalant.

"Yes. I'm going to marry Adrian," Daylana replied with a sigh as she adjusted her crown.

The silence between them seemed to last an eternity.

"I hope he makes her happy," Jester said.

Daylana took a step forward.

The problem is that the person I love isn't him.

For the first time, Jester lost his smile.

"So, who is this person, princess?" Jester asked, taking a step closer to Daylana and tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear.
