his mother is the mayor of tegrith, both youngest ever and first woman to hold the position, well-liked and competent his family is very loving and never implies anything less of him for being adopted, but he still just personally feels he needs to prove himself he goes on to say that the fandom interpretation that tf!scott was the one from a less well-off family compared to tf!pyro is incorrect given who his mother is, it's just that he doesn't really act it because that doesn't change the fact that he did manual labor and worked for the town he does travel, both for the purposes of trade and for like, diplomatic-style stuff with his family he "wants to feel useful/needed", in the context of not leading pranks and gaffs and stuff but also not going to snitch or anything and will go along with it Scott is closeted. Scott's learning of magic is more intuitive while Pyro's is more actively ambitious and study based.

His dorm room is freezing and he doesn't notice how cold it is. Besides Scott, Pyro is the only person who can feel comfortable in there;

in the spring/summer/fall, tegrith lives above ground and does mostly herding, in the winter they move below ground into a cavern heated by geothermal vents and rely on stores and trade tf!scott is 6'4" and is tough and with broad shoulders, tf!pyro is 6'0" tf!scott got even more buff after tf!pyro left because he had to pick up some amount of slack in terms of manual labour for the town he was found abandoned and knows nothing about his birth parents

An academy is open for volunteers or people to be sent for. It's formed around getting dragons to help clear the infection that's crossed around the land. Scott was sent for, Pyro volunteered. After all of the tribute's dragons died- The proffesor, a dragon himself, blamed the tributes - they blamed him as they sent them on the journey in the first place - they were given eggs from a clutch their dragons had produced. Scott's dragon was named Aurora.

Scott was adopted into a family that has high culture formed around lineage. A boy named Pyro, who Scott knew since 2 and had been childhood friends with, was destined to be the next fire bearer. At 15 Pyro ran away from his responsibites to learn new things- Scott finds this incredibly distasteful and has taken Pyro's place in reaponsibiites, It's been eight years and though Pyro writes to his family he has not returned. Their little sister, Igna, instead is to be the next fire bearer.
