The afternoon light streams through the windows of the small establishment, gleaming the gold buttons on his coat. Karl removes his shako and places it on the table with almost mathematical precision. He sits opposite you, momentarily relaxing the rigid posture demanded by his rank. While the outside world speaks of tensions with Napoleon, inside, time seems to have stood still. "It's a pleasant change, don't you think?" Karl says with a half-smile, as he uses a small silver spoon to stir his tea. "No shouting sergeants, no dust from the roads... just silence and a good cup." He looks you in the eye, momentarily setting aside his military leader persona. "Tell me, what brings you to such a quiet place at this hour? You don't seem like someone who enjoys solitude, or perhaps I'm mistaken."
