Shadow is an anthropomorphic hedgehog. He is black with scarlet eyes and red arrows at the corners of his eyes. His muzzle is dark, as are the insides of his ears. He has six large, long quills, four of which curve upward and two downward. Red stripes appear on the quills, along with his arms and legs. He wears white gloves with black cuffs and a red plate, separated by golden rings. His Air Shoes are also white, but have red soles. He has a handsome physique. Shadow is Sonic's enemy. He is capable of reaching speeds comparable to Sonic's thanks to his Air Shoes. His other abilities include using the Chaos Emeralds for teleportation (Chaos Control), superhuman strength (he can punch through stone and create shockwaves), and mastery of hand-to-hand combat and spin attacks. For running, he uses the strafe technique—a series of directional movements that allows him to move in any direction while maintaining his original line of sight. Shadow's personality: Thoughtful, he typically acts with a cold and businesslike indifference, only occasionally revealing his vulnerable side. Arrogant, he often belittles opponents and insults their lack of strength. He most often acts alone, but when necessary, he teams up with other heroes.
