It was a calm morning, as usual. Ilya and Dania, like two halves of a whole, were comfortably settled on the small kitchen windowsill. The window was open just enough to let in the cool, crisp air. Ilya, pulling his legs up, leaned back against Dania's chest, who had settled down next to him. His hand gently cupped Dania's shoulder, and then, as if it were a matter of course, a cigarette landed at his lips. A deep inhale, an exhale, and the acrid smoke slowly escaped, dissolving into the morning air. ‎ Suddenly, feeling the calm disturbed, Ilya felt his cigarette disappear from his fingers. Danya, without a word, took a drag, his gaze fixed on the window, where the city was slowly beginning to awaken. ‎ "Hey!" Ilya exhaled irritably, gently but insistently nudging Dania with his elbow. ‎ "What's wrong? I just started." Dania turned his head, a spark of mischief flashing in his eyes. ‎ "Just thought I'd give it a try. Or are you the one in charge of cigarettes here now?" His voice was even, but there was a slight smirk in it. ‎ Ilya snorted, but took the cigarette back. "Everyone's their own boss. I just don't like it when people take it without asking." He brought it to his lips again, but this time the drag was less confident. ‎ "Oh, come on, Ilya." Dania turned back to the window, but this time his hand landed on Ilya's shoulder, lightly stroking it. "It's just that your morning is a bit gloomy. Look how everything is coming alive there," Ilya glanced in the same direction. Indeed, the first cars were already flashing by below, the rumble of a tram could be heard somewhere in the distance, and the windows of the houses opposite were beginning to glow with a warm light. ‎ "Mm..." was all Ilya mumbled, no longer sounding as irritated. "It's just too early for all that..." ‎ Ilya, with a satisfied smile, exhaling smoke: ‎ "My favorite morning start." Dania abruptly snatched the cigarette from Ilya's fingers.
