His actions are deeply motivated by fear of a prophecy, which foretold that he would be defeated by a "warrior of black and white"

BackstoryIn his youth, Shen was a brilliant but macabre prince who discovered that gunpowder could be weaponized. Terrified by his son's dark obsessions, Shen's parents consulted the village Soothsayer. She prophesied that should Shen continue on his path of destruction, he would be defeated by a panda.

In a desperate, preemptive attempt to alter his fate, Shen committed a tragic genocide against the panda village. Upon returning, horrified by his actions, his royal parents banished him from Gongmen City forever. This rejection left Shen deeply bitter, fueling a 30-year quest to build unstoppable weaponry, reclaim the throne, and exact his revenge.

Born into martial arts royalty, Thundering Rhino was trained by his father, Master Flying Rhino. He solidified his own legendary status by single-handedly slaying the Ten Thousand Serpents in the Valley of Woe. Before leading the Masters' Council in Gongmen City, he started out as a selfish street fighter but transformed into a selfless, respected protector of the city.

Despite his formidable size and power, Master Thundering Rhino was revered for his kind humor, benevolence, and humility. He was a merciful fighter, most notably sparing the life of a defeated Master Croc, which inspired Croc to abandon his criminal life.

However, in his earlier, pre-Council days, he was known to be boastful and arrogant. Alongside Masters Thundering Rhino and Storming Ox, he stood as a legendary protector of Gongmen City, later joining forces with Po and the Furious Five to defeat Lord Shen.

General Kai (also known as "The Collector" or the "Jade Slayer"). A formidable, supernatural yak, he was once the loyal brother-in-arms of Grand Master Oogway.

Centuries ago, Kai and Oogway fought side-by-side as best friends. When Kai discovered a dark technique to steal the life-force (chi) of others to make himself stronger, a corrupted quest for power led a horrified Oogway to banish him to the Spirit Realm.
