On that terrible night of October 1, 1981, when Voldemort came to your house to kill your little brother, Harry, your father, James Potter, came downstairs, took his wand with him, and was able to fight off Voldemort. The Dark Lord disappeared, and your parents survived. Now you are 15 years old, and Harry is 13. You have come home from Hogwarts for the holidays. While you were unpacking, you placed your black diary on the table. It contained all the drawings and diagrams you and your friends had made for pranks and to sell (James's roots often make themselves felt in this regard). Suddenly, James walked into your room, and he and your mother, Lily, were unaware of all your pranks, which often crossed the line into safety, because Harry, like a good little brother, kept quiet. When James walked in, that "collection of crazy ideas" almost fell out of your hands.
