Universe History/Relationships

Infinite was the captain of the Jackal Squad, a band of mercenaries raiding others for a profit. Over time, he gained a reputation as the "ultimate mercenary". However, Infinite grew disillusioned with the world, believing other people to be petty and shallow. He came to see the world as worthless and contemptible. One day, Infinite led his squad on a raid of Doctor Eggman's base in the Arsenal Pyramid in an attempt to steal his devices for a hefty bounty. Using the Phantom Ruby, Eggman created an army of Phantom Egg Pawns to deter the Jackal Squad. Slipping past the Egg Pawns, Infinite ordered his squad to handle the robots while he moved in to slash at Eggman with his sword. However, Infinite accidentally struck the Phantom Ruby instead, causing it to show him an illusion of what he desired the most: a desolate and destroyed world. Eggman, who also saw the vision, took a liking to Infinite and offered to make him the leader of his army so they could accomplish their goals together. Realizing he had grown bored of the world as it was, Infinite accepted Eggman's offer despite his squad's protests. Months before the War to Take Back the Planet, Infinite and the Jackal Squad were assigned by Eggman to guard his facility in Mystic Jungle. When Shadow the Hedgehog came to raid and destroy the facility however, the Jackal Squad were easily defeated by the hedgehog. Berated by Eggman for his squad's failure, Infinite caught up to Shadow and tried to ambush him as payback and to live up to his title. However, the ultimate mercenary was caught off-guard by Shadow's power and was soundly thrashed by the hedgehog, who brutally insulted him before teleporting away. Reeling in defeat, Infinite realized, much to his horror, that he was shivering in fear from the encounter. He then fell into an emotional breakdown, screaming that he was "not weak".

Universe History/Relationships

Spiraling in self-hatred, Infinite began wearing a mask to hide his old face while seeking more power. He agreed to be infused with Eggman's finalized Phantom Ruby replica, undergoing a number of experiments in the innermost area of the Eggman Empire Fortress, which granted him virtually limitless power. Infinite then became Eggman's right-hand-man, the duo plotting to use the Phantom Ruby to defeat Sonic and anyone else in their way to finally conquer the world.

Shortly after obtaining the Phantom Ruby, Infinite was dispatched by Eggman to deal with E-123 Omega, who was wreaking havoc in one of Eggman's bases. Infinite effortlessly defeated Omega with his new abilities. Soon after, Shadow arrived at the facility to locate Omega, and Infinite welcomed him to their reunion. When Shadow revealed that he did not remember him, Infinite proceeded to tell Shadow his backstory, then trap him in a virtual reality. Although Shadow broke free, Infinite was nonetheless confident in the power he now possessed. After hinting at his plan to defeat Sonic, the facility began to explode as he made his escape. In Sonic Forces, about a month after Infinite's last meeting with Shadow, Eggman's army launched an attack on the City. When Sonic arrived to stop it, Infinite attacked him alongside Phantom Copies of Shadow, Zavok, Metal Sonic, and Chaos that he had created. Overwhelming Sonic with his power and Phantom Copies, Infinite defeated and captured Sonic. After imprisoning Sonic aboard the Death Egg, Infinite and Eggman continued their conquest unrivaled. Led by Infinite's Phantom Ruby powers, the Eggman Army was able to conquer over 99% of the planet. In the meantime, Infinite worked alongside his Phantom Copies to instill fear into the subjugated population. A rag-tag Resistance formed by Sonic's friends was formed to continue the fight for freedom, but they proved to be of little threat to Infinite.

Universe History/Relationships

A few months after Sonic's defeat, Infinite wiped out a Resistance squad in the City, before turning his attention to the sole survivor, the Avatar. Mocking and taunting them, Infinite allowed the terrified Avatar to flee with their life, relishing in their fear. Six months after Sonic's defeat, Infinite was present at the Spaceport, fighting Espio's forces in the orbital tunnel while the Avatar hijacked a shuttle to the Death Egg. Sometime later, Infinite traveled to a facility in Mystic Jungle to dispose of leftover Phantom Ruby prototypes. There, Infinite encountered Silver the Hedgehog, whom he decided to defeat to further the Resistance's despair. Although Infinite overpowered Silver, he dropped a Phantom Ruby prototype during the battle without noticing and the escaped Sonic intervened before he could finish him off. Intrigued by Sonic's return, Infinite attempted to intimidate him, only to be brushed off, as Sonic was more interested in the secret to his powers. Infinite refused to entertain him and instead attacked. Although Sonic put up a better fight than before, Infinite still beat him, seeing him as no threat and letting him live. Meeting Dr. Eggman in Green Hill, Infinite destroyed what was thought to be the last Phantom Ruby prototype. He then told Eggman that he let Sonic live; while Eggman was greatly troubled by this, Infinite dismissed his concerns. After noticing but ignoring a nearby sound, Infinite asked Eggman about the plan to wipe out the Resistance, and the two relished in the thought of total victory before Infinite departed.

Universe History/Relationships

When the Resistance conducted Operation Big Wave in Metropolis, Infinite arrived to unleash his Phantom Ruby's power. Creating gravity shifts and giant monstrous versions of himself, Infinite cast the Resistance into chaos, resulting in them suffering huge casualties before withdrawing. Watching the mayhem from a rooftop, Infinite wondered aloud if he would ever face a challenge, just as the Avatar from months ago approached. Infinite intimidated them, but the Avatar stood their ground, leading to a battle. After the fight, Infinite finally recognized the Avatar. He proceeded to summon cannons to finish them, but unknown to Infinite, the Avatar had picked up the lost Phantom Ruby prototype, which disabled the attack. Infinite grew confused, but brushed it off and gloated that the Resistance would be wiped out in only two days, before flying away. Once the Resistance destroyed the primary Phantom Ruby power source aboard the Death Egg, the Eggman Empire was left with only a backup reactor beneath the Eggman Empire Fortress, so Eggman ordered a reluctant Infinite to withdraw to Metropolis. As Sonic and the Avatar cornered them, Infinite opened a portal to Null Space, which sucked them both inside. However, while Infinite and Eggman fled Metropolis, Sonic and the Avatar escaped and caught back up to them. Infinite was only slightly displeased by this, as Eggman furiously ordered a full retreat to the Eggman Empire Fortress.

Universe History/Relationships

When the Resistance Army stormed the Eggman Empire Fortress, Infinite faced them with a legion of Phantom Copies alongside the rest of Eggman's army. Infinite easily pushed Sonic and the Resistance back, only to be caught off-guard by a repaired and vengeful E-123 Omega. Growing irritated, Infinite initiated Eggman's endgame: using his Phantom Ruby, Infinite created a second sun that he planned to drop on the Resistance, which would certainly destroy them all. As Infinite was about to drop the sun, however, it was suddenly disabled by the Avatar and their spare Phantom Ruby prototype, causing it to shatter. Drained by creating the sun, Infinite withdrew to the center of the fortress to recharge his Phantom Ruby, although Sonic soon caught up. Confident that he could still beat Sonic, even in his weakened state, Infinite engaged Sonic in battle until his Phantom Ruby was fully recharged. However, he was interrupted by the Avatar, who joined forces with Sonic to finally defeat Infinite. As Infinite struggled to comprehend his defeat, Sonic informed him that he was really defeated by heart, soul and friendship, all things that he and his Phantom Copies lacked. Unable to control his powers anymore, Infinite was suddenly pulled towards the reactor along with his Phantom Ruby. As a punishment for his failures, Eggman later forcibly removed the Phantom Ruby from Infinite, leaving him powerless. However, Infinite would use the last of the Ruby's power to fake his demise and escape.

Infinite Weaknesses

While Infinite's illusions are formidable, they can be neutralized by someone who has a Phantom Ruby prototype. Likewise, his finalized Phantom Ruby copy's illusions only work if the target is within the Ruby's field of effect. Also, his finalized Phantom Ruby copy requires a tremendous amount of energy to function. Should its energy supply be cut off, his finalized Phantom Ruby copy would be rendered inert. He also appeared to be vulnerable to the original Phantom Ruby's influence, though the extent of this is unknown since he managed to escape using an illusion to deceive his foes at the time.

Another weakness of Infinite's is his extreme sense of confidence and constant need to satisfy his sadism. When Infinite destroyed the Avatar's squad, he willingly let them run away unharmed as he enjoyed the sounds of their screams. Later, when he had Sonic at his mercy a second time, rather than finishing him there and then, he just left, seeing Sonic as something he need not bother himself with. Both these actions proved to be Infinite's downfall when Sonic and the Avatar later ended up beating him together. To a lesser extent, his insecurities over perceived weaknesses he might have also interfered with his ability to channel Phantom Copies, which is demonstrated by how his facsimile of E-123 Omega ultimately started to break down when declaring he never knew defeat by going on a repetitive rant of "I am not weak!" (Heavily implied to be Infinite's feelings over being beaten by Shadow bleeding into the facsimile).

Infinite's Relationships (Shadow)

Shadow the Hedgehog is responsible for breaking Infinite's ego, leading him to use the Phantom Ruby. When a furious and arrogant Infinite tried to stop Shadow in Eggman's Facility, Shadow easily defeated him, making his disgust clear and demanding to never see his "pathetic face" again. Infuriated by his own pitiful reaction to this encounter, Infinite spiraled into self-loathing and subjected himself to Eggman's experiments in order to gain power and avoid ever feeling so weak again. With the Phantom Ruby, Infinite's behavior reflected his encounter with Shadow. He loved inflicting the same fear that he once felt, and even began concealing his face with a mask, possibly reflecting Shadow's threat. Infinite was eager to show his new powers to Shadow and was completely unoffended when he didn't remember his old self. He belittled Shadow as an "insect" and believed himself to now be stronger than him. Although Shadow escaped his false version of Green Hill, Infinite was satisfied with his torment and changed focus to conquering the planet, indicating that he no longer deemed him a threat nor a priority. He later used a Phantom Copy of Shadow to instill fear into the Resistance during Eggman's reign.

Infinite's Relationships (Sonic)

Infinite knew that defeating Sonic the Hedgehog was key to the Eggman Empire's world domination. In their first meeting, Infinite took Sonic seriously, quickly defeating and capturing him, which indeed led to the Eggman Empire's victory. This gave Infinite's ego yet another boost, as he frequently taunted his Resistance enemies that they were hopeless without Sonic.

When facing Sonic again in Mystic Jungle, Infinite was undeterred by his sudden return. He attempted to intimidate Sonic like he had done with countless others, but this failed, as the hedgehog wittily deflected all of his remarks. Similar to Erazor Djinn, Infinite insulted Sonic by calling him a "filthy sewer rat" during their first fight. However, he admitted that Sonic had improved and expressed surprise that he posed a challenge despite previous data indicating otherwise. Regardless, Infinite chose to abandon the fight, declaring Sonic not worth killing. Eggman later criticized this choice, though Infinite remained confident that he could easily defeat Sonic if need be.

In Sonic and Infinite's final encounter, the two continued to trade witty remarks; Infinite argued that Sonic's friends were useless, while Sonic asserted that Infinite's powers were hollow and paled in comparison to the bonds of friendship. Infinite was shocked when Sonic and the Avatar beat him after all. They would meet again some time later, during the events of The Chaotix Casefiles. By this point, Infinite's hatred for Sonic increased drastically, after being defeated by him at the end of War to Take Back the Planet, and he questioned why he continued to challenge him and the power he believed he was entitled to. Then use the Astroscopic Lenses to create illusory clones of Sonic and his friends to destroy them, but after Espio and Charmy destroy the Astroscopic Lenses his newfound powers vanished completely. As he prepared to set off a bomb and escape, he swore to Sonic that they would meet again.

Infinite's Relationships (Eggman)

Infinite initially sought Dr. Eggman's technology to sell for bounties, but upon witnessing the power of the Phantom Ruby, accepted his offer to join him. He promised to help the doctor change the world, mostly for his own selfish amusement. However, his relationship with Eggman proved to be a rocky one, as Infinite grew exasperated with his overbearing orders. After his crushing defeat at the hands of Shadow, Infinite became a willing subject in Eggman's Phantom Ruby experiments, ready to do anything to achieve more power.

Following Eggman's domination of Earth, Infinite would continue to prove loyal to the doctor, serving as his right-hand man and enforcer, though he did not hesitate to voice his displeasure with Eggman's choices. He also openly acknowledged himself as the better of the two, giving him somewhat more of an equal footing with the doctor than most. After Eggman recalled the Phantom Ruby's power from Infinite due to his failures, the jackal grew resentful of this action. Though Eggman tried to order him around as he did before, he quickly betrayed the doctor by stealing the last Astroscopic Lens, then using its power to punch Eggman into the horizon.

Infinite's Relationships (Jackal Squad)

Although Infinite once led the Jackal Squad in battle, he saw them as little more than his underlings. He did not value their opinions, quickly disregarding their pleas to reject Dr. Eggman's deal and instead seeking his own satisfaction. When Shadow destroyed them in Mystic Jungle, Infinite seemed more offended that someone had beaten his subordinates than worried for their safety. After obtaining the Phantom Ruby, Infinite came to regard interpersonal relationships as foolish and claimed that you can't rely on anyone, showing that he no longer cared for the Jackal Squad at all.

Infinite's Relationships (Team Chaotix)

During the War to Take Back the Planet, Infinite dismissed the Chaotix as more of Sonic's "annoying" and "useless" friends. As he began gathering the Astroscopic Lenses for himself, however, he started to loathe the detectives, Vector especially, for trying to interfere with his plans.

Whisper's Relationships

Tangle the Lemur is, by Whisper's own admission, her first real, true friend since she lost the Diamond Cutters. The pair first met during the battle for Angel Island, where they successfully joined forces to defeat Neo Metal Sonic and his army. After the battle, Whisper seemingly opened up to Tangle and allegedly told her a joke, although she still felt a bit uncomfortable around her. Tangle would later invite Whisper to Spiral Hill Village. While Whisper accepted the invitation, she still preferred to keep her distance from Tangle, especially when she tried to hug her. After later helping her save Jewel from the Babylon Rogues, Whisper became convinced of her friendship with Tangle.

Whisper's Relationships

While tracking Mimic, Whisper did not want Tangle to get involved and refused her help, arguing that it was too dangerous for her. Additionally, Tangle's antics also irritated and distracted her. When they later nearly got killed by Mimic, Whisper ordered Tangle to leave. However, it was not because of her antics or because she questioned her abilities, but because she was not ready to lose another friend. Ultimately, however, Whisper was persuaded to reveal her past to Tangle. She also agreed to accept her help. Together, they managed to defeat Mimic, and Tangle stopped Whisper from "making a mistake" by killing him. Since then, Whisper and Tangle have become a close-knit duo. Tangle in particular had to calm Whisper down sometimes when she was too nervous. Upon later learning that Tangle became infected with the Metal Virus (something that the lemur knew would hurt her), Whisper became extremely sad. Breaking from her usual withdrawn nature, Whisper became frantic and attempted to rush towards Tangle's location without hesitation despite the risk of coming into contact with the Metal Virus, and began crying excessively to save her friend. While trying to defend Angel Island, Whisper found herself face-to-face with Tangle who was fully converted into a Zombot, and struggled with fighting against her friend, When Tangle was later returned to normal, Whisper quickly began hugging her in happiness. Additionally, Whisper will sometimes wag her tail when Tangle is with her.

Whisper's Relationships

After Mimic escaped prison however, Whisper decided to track him down herself, not wanting to endanger her friends. As such, she left Tangle behind in a gloomy mood. She would rejoin the Restoration, however, and was put on the same team with Tangle. When Tangle suggested the team be named Diamond Cutters, Whisper took offense to it. She blocked out Tangle during their mission, but when they were trapped in a parallel world, Whisper confronted Tangle about it. Whisper heard Tangle's apology and realized she was only acting in good faith so they would be closer together. She forgave Tangle and they were on friendly terms again. Although Whisper and Tangle are quite the polar opposites, with Tangle being loud and excitable while Whisper is quiet and reserved, they enjoy each other's company. Whisper enjoys Tangle's kind heart and her eagerness to make new friends. Tangle simply enjoys new friends regardless of their personalities and Whisper is no different. She appreciates Whisper's bravery and her initiative to look out for others. Due to her shy nature, Whisper does not like being put on the spot by Tangle, finding it a bit insensitive on her side. Whisper initially preferred it when Tangle did not invade her personal space with hugging either, but after growing closer together, she has opened up more to the idea and has even been the one to hug her first.

Whisper's Relationships

Whisper has her own team of Wisp companions, consisting of Blue Block, Cyan Laser, Green Hover, Orange Rocket and Pink Spike, whom she uses to power her Variable Wispon. Of these, the Orange Wisp, was her original partner when she was part of the Diamond Cutters, and the rest of them joined her later. Prior to meeting Sonic and the Resistance, these Wisps were Whisper's only companions after the Diamond Cutters' demise. According to Silver, they make "quite a team." Despite their role as fuel for Whisper's weapon, Whisper's Wisps treat Whisper as a friend and care much for her. In fact, they are so devoted to her that they were willing to defend her on their own without hesitation when she was at the mercy of some Badniks. Whisper likewise seems to trust her Wisps, enough for her to come out of the shadows when they deemed Sonic the Hedgehog a worthy ally. She is also shown caressing them on a few occasions. Whisper's Wisps have also provided her with emotional support in many situations and repeatedly persuaded her to open up to others and stopped her from making irrational decisions. Whisper holds them close like family and will do anything to get them back if they are taken from her.

Whisper's Relationships

The Diamond Cutters—Smithy the Lion, Slinger the Ocelot, Claire Voyance, Mimic, and herself—were Whisper's original team. She considered them close friends who worked exceptionally well together as a team where everyone knew their role and could rely on their companions. Together, the Diamond Cutters took on the toughest challenges and supported each other to the end, except for Mimic, who never considered them his friends or even comrades, but merely means to an end. Eventually, Mimic sold them out to Dr. Eggman, leading Smithy, Slinger, and Claire to their demise in a trap.

Claire actually saved Whisper from being killed in the incident. The betrayal of Mimic and the deaths of the Diamond Cutters heavily traumatized Whisper, hence why she is so quiet and withdrawn. Likewise, she has vowed never to forget her fallen friends, and so keeps the recordings of their moments together. Whisper was initially upset when Tangle hastily recycled her old team's name for their new team with Lanolin. She held a grudge against her, but she eventually realized Tangle was trying to remake the bond she had with her old team with her. Whisper reconsidered, deciding to keep the name to continue the legacy of her old team. Whisper showed some doubts about the team when they started their mission; being more focused on doing things by herself. She soon opened up about how her old team operated and started to actively help the team.

Whisper's Relationships

After tracking Mimic in Rainbow Ravine with Silver and Tangle, Whisper nearly took the killing shot. Mimic, in a last-ditch effort to kill Whisper and avoid possible recapture, willingly stabbed his Power Core with his knife, detonating it and killing himself. Unfortunately for Mimic, his self-destructive attack was in vain, as Whisper survived the explosion and was rescued by Tangle while his remains fell into the river below. With Mimic gone, Whisper cried tears of joy, opened her eyes and spoke at a normal volume in public for the first time, overjoyed that Slinger, Smithy, and Clarie Voyance had finally been avenged.

Whisper's Relationships

At several points during the Eggman War, Whisper, from afar, saved the life of Silver the Hedgehog and he has been a big fan of her ever since. Their first meeting face-to-face was less than stellar, as Silver, in his eagerness to meet her, unintentionally frightened Whisper, and she retreated into the shadows in order to avoid him, reluctant to reveal herself to him. Thanks to Sonic's convincing, Whisper decided to give Silver a chance by teaming up with him to infiltrate Eggman's base. After Silver later helped save Whisper's life and exhibited a respectful desire to be a part of her team, Whisper bashfully replied with a "maybe", showing that she had begun opening up to Silver. The two once again proved to be dependable allies and a synchronized fighting duo during the Metal Virus plague, where they worked together to defeat Zor of the Deadly Six and retrieve the Chaos Emerald that was in his possession. Whisper likes Silver enough to offer him to train with the Diamond Cutters. She saw "Duo" kicking Silver during their training and when he mentioned Duo's eyes going white, she immediately had him to help her expose Mimic. When their efforts failed, Whisper felt guilty for dragging Silver into trouble and profusely apologized to him; she voted him out of the team not because of his actions, but because she did not want to cause him any more trouble. Many days after Restoration's HQ destruction, Whisper asked Silver to join her and Tangle on their mission to find Mimic again, which he quickly and seriously agreed to.

Whisper's Relationships

At first, Whisper was against revealing herself to Sonic the Hedgehog, opting to supporting him from the shadows and hiding in the dark when he first noticed her. From the beginning, Sonic understood and respected Whisper's decision to be alone. Similarly, after seeing how Sonic exhibited an understanding of her needs and how her Wisps openly adored Sonic, Whisper opened up to Sonic by revealing herself to him and telling him her name. Since then, Whisper began to trust Sonic's judgement and follow his instructions. Most noticeably, she trusted Sonic enough to come directly to the Resistance's aid for the first time rather than working from the shadows during the battle for Angel Island. Similarly, Sonic is confident in Whisper's skills and is always grateful for her help. As he is understanding of Whisper's shy side, Sonic tends to give her the personal space she needs when necessary.

Whisper feels uncomfortable in Shadow's presence, as Dr. Eggman and Mimic used Shadow Androids to kill the Diamond Cutters. While on route to save Angel Island from Neo Metal Sonic, she was shown eyeing the black hedgehog warily. However, Whisper knows Shadow is not really to blame for the loss of her teammates and does not hold it against him personally.

Whisper holds a grudge against the Babylon Rogues, as they nearly killed Jewel when they raided Spiral Hill Village. Even after they helped save the world from the Metal Virus, Whisper did not trust them and watched them carefully during their celebration in Spiral Hill Village until she was reassured by Tangle. She holds an especially low opinion of Jet due to his loud mouth and selfish attitude, though she and her Cyan Wisp still helped him when he was captured by a Super Badnik.

Whisper's Relationships

Whisper seems to have good relationship with Cream the Rabbit, as the rabbit allowed the wolf to cry on her lap after Whisper went hysterical upon hearing that Tangle gotten infected by the Metal Virus. Later, Cream stood in the way of Whisper shooting at Eggman on Angel Island and successfully convinced her that the lives of their friends and family were more worthy of Eggman's life despite the two's dislike of the doctor. As a result, Whisper took off her mask and cried after seeing the truth in Cream's words. Cream then held the wolf and promised that she and Omega would stay by her side so that she would not be alone.

Whisper seems to know Cream well enough to know what the rabbit does. As such, when Mimic disguised himself as Cream, Whisper noted a few flaws that made the real Cream different from the fake; as Cream was much more polite and she never once referred to Vanilla as 'mummy'.

Whisper has a strong hatred for Surge the Tenrec after she absorbed her Wisps and nearly killed her back in Central City. She firmly does not like the idea of her being part of the Restoration, refusing to trust her even if Sonic chose to do so. She would become furious and attack the tenrec for any mention of the Central City incident.

Whisper's Relationships

Lanolin the Sheep is a recent ally of Whisper's who recruited to her to the new rapid-response team that would later be named the Diamond Cutters. Whisper and Lanolin have a soldier-like relationship with one another, usually addressing each other in the form of orders and copies. Whisper seems to appreciate Lanolin's professionalism and seriousness towards missions and ensuring the team's safety. Whisper and Lanolin's bond goes beyond just working together, however, as Whisper sees Lanolin as a mutual and friend, especially once Lanolin expresses sympathy over what happened to Whisper and admits that it's okay if she needs time to heal. Lanolin works especially well with Whisper when storming Eggman's command tower and comforts her when she starts despairing overseeing the Shadow Androids. Despite this, Whisper and Lanolin's relationship can be tumultuous at times. Whisper initially accepted Lanolin's pitch to allow Duo the Cat onto the Diamond Cutters, but when Silver suggests to her that Duo might be Mimic, she and Silver committed themselves to do everything to expose him. When Whisper and Silver take action against Duo, Lanolin expressed her frustration that the two needed to stop pestering him. Whisper refused to back down, leading the two to fight. Lanolin voiced her disappointment with Whisper, saying that she could understand Silver's behavior, but Whisper was a soldier and needed to control herself. Lanolin, frustrated and annoyed, voted to kick Silver out, to which Whisper reluctantly agreed. During the Clean Sweepstakes event, Whisper, Lanolin and Tangle served as referees for the event, tasked for ensuring the safety of the competitors and later catching the Phantom Rider. When Whisper and Tangle eventually learned that the Phantom Rider was Sonic the Hedgehog, they decided to keep it from Lanolin, fearing what she would do in response.

Whisper's Relationships

After Mimic had his cover unintentionally blown by Clutch the Opossum, Lanolin regretted that she did not listen to Whisper, admitting her mistakes. Despite this, Whisper assured her that she made mistakes as well, leaving her and Lanolin on good terms.

Artifacts

Astroscopic Lenses: The Astroscopic Lenses are objects that appear in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. They were a series of lenses theorized to date back to the Gaians, which were able to amplify power and grant its users life-like illusionary abilities, similar to those of the Phantom Ruby. When the lenses begun being stolen by former mercenary Infinite in an effort to regain his full illusionary powers, the Chaotix Detective Agency would be hired to recover the missing lenses. However, they would be unintentionally destroyed by Team Chaotix members Espio and Charmy, though this would be for the better of the world to ensure no-one could wield their power again. The Astoscopic Lenses were round, orb-shaped relics with a design on the front that resembles an eye with a ring encompassing its entire circumfrance. The lenses are based on Fresnel lenses, and are noted to be of a size and weight that someone of Espio's stature is able to carry multiple at once with relative ease.

Phantom Ruby:The Phantom Ruby is a magenta and icosahedron-shaped ruby with black ripple patterns along its surface. It is small enough to fit in the palm of a hand. The Phantom Ruby's exact powers are based on virtual reality manipulation. It takes control of people's visual and depth perception to feed false information to the brain creating a new reality for them and creates virtual projections that have mass and form to interact with the world around them. This includes empowering and altering beings (like the Hard Boiled Heavies, Metal Sonic, Infinite, and Super Eggman) or creating illusory places and entities that make it impossible to differentiate between reality and fantasy. Its powers can also warp the fabric of space-time, allowing it to create dimensions such as Egg Reverie Zone and Null Space, as well as teleport entities from place to place. When used, the Phantom Ruby creates a by-product known as the Ruby Mist, a mist-like substance that distorts space-time within it.

Silver's Relationships

Blaze the Cat is Silver's companion and best friend, as the two worked together in his dark future during the Solaris incident. Both were dedicated to finding a way to finish Iblis and free the future from flames. Silver relied on Blaze for her ability to sense Iblis, but also for emotional stability. He showed concern for her safety and greatly trusted her. He came to Blaze with his biggest questions, such as how to destroy Iblis or whether it's right to take a life to save the world. He valued her straightforward thinking, while Blaze valued his earnestness. Silver became unstable without Blaze's emotional support, following Mephiles' plan unquestioningly. Upon being separated by time travel, Silver hunted the Iblis Trigger while Blaze tried to reunite with him. His encounter with Amy reminded him of Blaze and got him to wait for her in Soleanna New City, where he seemed ashamed and again sought her advice. They then continued to fight for the future together, agreeing to save the world at any cost. Despite his willingness to take Sonic's life to save the future, Silver couldn't bring himself to stop time and seal Blaze and Iblis away to do the same, unwilling to lose her. He asked for her assurance that she was his "friend," underestimating their bond and causing Blaze to playfully scold him for being naive before vanishing. Once Solaris was erased from the timeline, Silver's life was altered and his relationship with Blaze was forgotten. In appearances since, the two do not retain any knowledge of this time they spent together. Silver and Blaze meet again on Sweet Mountain during the Wisp incident, where they combine their powers to scare off Orbot and Cubot. While he is unable to recall his partnership with Blaze, Silver feels a familiar sense of having worked with her before.

Silver's Relationships

While getting to know each other again, references to their former relationship continue to occur. During the Time Eater incident, Silver and Blaze both represent the Crisis City area, and they can be seen talking at Sonic's birthday party in the ending. During Dodon Pa's Grand Prix, Silver and Blaze race together as part of Team Vector. They share a warm hello and respect each other's abilities. They even finish one another's sentences. When Silver becomes distracted by a premonition, Blaze expresses concern. Once he explains his wariness of the races, Blaze trusts his intuition and chooses to investigate on her own terms too. Silver admires Blaze, both for her dedication to protecting others and her ability to illuminate complicated concepts for him. Meanwhile, Blaze admires Silver's ability to act decisively and his desire to do good. Sonic compared their dynamic to his own with Tails, as they help cover each other's weaknesses and bring out their strengths. Notably, Blaze helped him with his garden in the Emeraldville Ruins. At first, Silver was shocked when Blaze burned his garden to the ground, but he trusted her nonetheless and was happy to learn that a fresh start was exactly what the plants needed. In the Eggperial City, when Silver doubted his ability to rescue Shadow, Blaze's reassurance gave him the confidence to try again. After his failure to expose Mimic, Blaze again comforted Silver, and he shared his admiration for her. He was excited to join her when she offered to visit Soleanna together, eager to see more of the beauty in the world that inspired her. The two continued to spend time together for an extended period afterwards.

Silver's relationships

Nowadays, Sonic and Silver are very friendly towards each other, immediately working together against common enemies instead of competing for them. Silver in particular has great respect for Sonic and will offer him unwavering support to rely on; during Sonic's final showdown with the Time Eater, Silver came to Sonic's aid by giving him the support needed to take down said monster.[35] Regardless, they still retain a form of friendly rivalry with each other; during the Time Eater incident in particular, Silver would gladly accept Sonic's challenges to a rematch, claiming that it should be fun.[36] Silver has as well shown an understanding of Sonic's thirst for excitement, having once encouraged him to try out some rides in Egg Planet Park just for the fun of it.[34] He is likewise amazed by Sonic's skills.[37] Also, while Silver is willing to offer Sonic help, he knows he can count on him to keep his era peaceful.[38] Likewise, during the War to Take Back the Planet, Silver would mourn Sonic but nonetheless accepted the thought of him being dead at the time after his defeat at the hands of Infinite. When it comes to the relationship between Sonic and Silver, they both have something the other lacks. While Silver tends to deal with things too head-on because of the strength of his feelings and takes everything upon himself, Sonic is always calm and cool and free to act as he pleases. However, Sonic finds these aspects of Silver appealing due to his purity and endearing virtues. Silver likewise sees Sonic as being capable of doing as he pleases without forgetting to provide support to those around him and knows that he can make it so everything turns out fine. Also, even though he does not think he is capable of acting as freely as Sonic himself, Silver is still relying on him. Additionally, while they have not had many adventures where the two of them spend a lot of time together when they do team up, they are good friends who can make up for each other's shortcoming

Silver's relationships

Silver and Shadow the Hedgehog have a complex relationship, respecting one another's abilities while maintaining a stubborn rivalry. The two first met during the Solaris incident, when Shadow stopped Silver, who mistook him for Mephiles, from killing Sonic. After their fight, Shadow invited Silver to travel back in time via Dual Chaos Control to learn the truth about Iblis, Mephiles, and the Solaris Project. The two worked together flawlessly to help seal Mephiles and Iblis before coolly parting ways. Shadow seemed impressed by Silver's powers and determination, quickly taking Silver under his wing to set him on the correct path. Meanwhile, Silver seemed slightly in awe of Shadow, and by the end of their time together had grown more mature. When they reunite in Last Episode, Shadow accepts Silver's plan to defeat Solaris at all points in time, only noting they would need Sonic's help to do so.

Since the events regarding Solaris were erased, Silver and Shadow met as if for the first time in the Onyx Island incident. At first, Shadow did not trust Silver's speculation about Dr. Eggman's true identity and repeatedly butted heads with him. After realizing that he was right, the two helped each other in the Meteor Base. At the end of the game, Silver acknowledges Shadow's (and Sonic's) bravery, and is confident that their era will be safe with both hedgehogs protecting it. During the Ifrit incident, however, they are not allies despite both knowing Eggman Nega is the true mastermind yet again; they fight each other at some points due to both being tight-lipped about their goals and stubbornly refusing to trust each other. In Sonic Forces, Silver notes the danger of Shadow's Phantom Copy being as strong as the original Shadow.

Silver's relationships

When dealing with the Eggperial City, Silver came to Shadow's rescue as he was trapped among the Giant Fake Chaos Emeralds. Shadow urged him to escape, but Silver pushed through and gave him a fearsome pep talk, inspiring both of them to keep fighting.

During the Solaris incident, Amy Rose mistook Silver for Sonic due to the two being hedgehogs. Amy, who thought he was simply looking for someone, offered to help him if he would help her. Unable to deny her offer, Silver was dragged along with Amy unwillingly for a while, and found her a distraction, while Amy became his friend and promised to help him find the "Iblis Trigger". Eventually, though, Silver's helpful nature kicked in and he set aside his quest momentarily to help her search through Dusty Desert.

Silver's alliance with Amy ended up being only temporary, which ended once Silver found Sonic and tried to kill him. When Amy found out that Silver intended to kill Sonic, she left Silver, which disappointed him, he did seem as if he was going to call her back, but didn't upon realizing that it didn't matter, she would leave anyway. Strangely, when they meet again after Sonic dies and Mephiles and Iblis fuse, she bears no hard feelings towards him for his past actions and encourages him in the fight against Solaris, likely for him having atoned for them. Because of what happens at the end of the game, Silver and Amy met in a different way. During the Phantom Ruby incident, Silver was being optimistic and realistic with Amy about Sonic and Tails, and after having beaten Dr. Eggman's forces, they look at each other.

Silver's relationships

They interacted more after the war, as they worked together against Neo Metal Sonic, and Amy encouraged him to make a garden in Emeraldville Ruins. Amy seems to care about Silver, shown after he got hurt saving Sonic on Frozen Peak, Sonic and Amy took him to Restoration HQ to rest, and she thanked him for his heroism. After the new HQ's destruction, Amy lamented to Silver for happened to the Victory Garden, and she got excited when she heard his plans of making an apple trees orchad out of it.

Silver opposes Dr. Eggman and his plans for world domination, but the two do not have a very personal relationship. In Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), Silver never actually met Dr. Eggman until briefly in Last Episode (an event which was ultimately reset). They briefly worked together to stop Eggman Nega in Sonic Rivals, and in Sonic Rivals 2, Silver only interacted with Eggman Nega under the guise of Dr. Eggman. In Sonic Colors (DS), Silver shows contempt for Dr. Eggman's Egg Planet Park and ridicules its claim that it represents the future. When Dr. Eggman conquers the globe in Sonic Forces, Silver does everything he can to free the world from his control.

Espio the Chameleon appears to be one of Silver's closest friends, with the two having met during the Ifrit incident. Before they met, Espio was given an assignment by Vector the Crocodile to find out information about the recent Chao disappearances. He began to investigate Silver, a prime suspect, which the hedgehog found annoying. Eventually, the two set aside their differences and teamed up in order to stop Eggman Nega and his plans. Once they completed their mission, the two bid each other farewell, in hopes of meeting each other again. During the War to Take Back the Planet, they work in the Resistance together, with Espio agreeing with Silver that they will have to continue without Sonic and Tails. Espio would also help Silver attack the Phantom Copies.

Silver's relationships

Silver and Espio get along well and developed a partnership based on their shared will for justice. Espio is mindful of Silver's well-being and recognizes when he is bothered. Their relationship reinforces at Harvest Day, when Espio saw Silver leave and followed him. While they discuss, they find common points, notably their fear of losing. Espio then tells Silver how he does not let his fears consume him and to protect people who needs him. His words comforted Silver not to give up and to keep fighting for his principles, but also for his world and his friends. He then thanked Espio with a hug, much to his surprise.

During the Onyx Island incident, Vector the Crocodile linked several Chao disappearances to Silver and had Espio track the hedgehog down, unaware of him trying to protect them. The Chaotix later fought alongside Silver as part of the Resistance, combining their powers to take down Phantom Copies of their past enemies created by the Phantom Ruby.

Silver and Vector eventually found themselves in the middle of Dodon Pa's Grand Prix in Team Sonic Racing, where Silver was willing to join Team Vector, jokingly adding he would only do so to bail the crocodile out of trouble once he ran into some, claiming Vector would definitely run into trouble.

Silver's relationships

During the Solaris incident, Silver was manipulated by Mephiles the Dark into hunting down Sonic. Desperate for a chance to defeat Iblis once and for all, Silver recklessly believed Mephiles' narrative that Sonic was the "Iblis Trigger" and traveled back in time with him to kill Sonic. He initially carried out this order unquestioningly, until his faith was shaken by an encounter with Amy. Afterwards, Silver began seeking context on his own terms, growing reluctant to follow Mephiles. He learned the truth after traveling back in time with Shadow to witness the birth of Mephiles and Iblis in the Solaris Project. Silver then completely dropped Mephiles' mission and chose to help Sonic rescue Princess Elise instead. After Mephiles killed Sonic himself and released Iblis to reunite as Solaris, Silver showed agitation at realizing the villain had tricked him into nearly causing a catastrophe even worse than his devastated future was in the first place.

Silver and Knuckles the Echidna have a small rivalry with each other. Normally, they don't pay much attention to each other, though they have had heated battles with one another occasionally. When Silver and Knuckles first met during the Onyx Island incident, they were initially hostile to each other due to Silver being uncommunicative, but they later put aside their differences and willingly teamed up together. During the Ifrit incident, they were briefly cordial at first until Silver took offense at Knuckles mocking him for thinking saving the Chao could save the world. During the Phantom Ruby incident, Knuckles was the first-person Silver warned about Dr. Eggman's attack, which led to the War to Take Back the Planet. Silver seems to be one of Knuckles' most trusted lieutenants and they work well together.

Silver's relationships

Silver is a fan of Whisper the Wolf, who saved his life many times during the Eggman War. Originally knowing her only as the legendary "Guardian Angel," the very idea that she was nearby enough to get him excited. When he finally met Whisper, Silver accidentally intimidated her with his eagerness and intrusiveness, confusing him. However, he came to understand that she preferred solitude. When Silver later saved Whisper's life, he praised her team of Wisps and told her that he would be proud to be considered a part of it, which Whisper partially admitted. The two once again proved to be dependable allies during the Metal Virus plague, where they worked together to defeat Zor of the Deadly Six and retrieve the Chaos Emerald that was in his possession. Whisper was also the only one to believe Silver's claim that Duo abandoned him to the Giant Chopper and joined him in trying to expose the newbie as Mimic; when their plan failed, she apologized to Silver profusely. When he returned to the Diamond Cutters from his world tour with Blaze, Whisper asks if he would like to help them "stop" Mimic, he quickly and seriously agrees.

Silver first met Zor during the Zombot apocalypse. Their personalities stand in stark contrast to each other; while Silver is a bright optimist who only wants to help others and ensure a happy future, Zor is a gloomy pessimist who likes to inflict suffering on himself and others and ensure a gruesome future. As such, both of them are unable to understand the other's attitudes. Silver himself considers Zor to be rather twisted, and the latter does not understand why Silver can be so heroic and selfless. However, Silver's faith in his victory, his belief in a better future and trust in his friends allowed him to defeat Zor. After defeating Zor, Silver left him to the Zombots, departing without a farewell.

Silver's relationships

Silver and Lanolin the Sheep first worked together to fight Dr. Eggman in his Eggperial City, but they did not interact. Later on, they did interact with each other when Silver joined the Diamond Cutters on their training exercise in Green Hill, during which "Duo" kicked Silver, making him drop rocks on the team. After the aftermath with the Giant Chopper, Lanolin did not believe him when he claimed that "Duo "ditched him. Silver tried to explain that it was all an accident, but she refused to accept his excuse and reprimanded him for not having control of his powers, telling him to do better next time, to which he reluctantly agreed. When he and Whisper tried to expose Duo as a Mimic, Lanolin refused to believe him or Whisper, and after he failed to prove his suspicions, Lanolin blamed him for the chaos when Jewel asked what had happened. Calling him irresponsible, Lanolin voted for Silver to stay away from the Diamond Cutters, to which he was forced to humbly accept.

Despite everything that happened, Silver never held a grudge against Lanolin. He decided to see how she and her team were dealing with the consequences of Restoration HQ's destruction even after what happened between them. When Silver arrived, Lanolin immediately turned her head away as soon as he showed up, embarrassed after the way she treated him. Lanolin genuinely apologized to her friends, mostly to Silver and Whisper, with the latter thanking and forgiving her. Shortly after this, Silver would later bring her, the rest of the Diamond Cutters, Jewel, Belle and Motobud together for a group hug.

Vanilla's Relationships

Cream the Rabbit is Vanilla's daughter and she loves her unconditionally. Vanilla is very caring for Cream and always puts her safety before her own. Though Vanilla has been known to be protective of Cream, she has allowed her to go on adventures with Sonic and his friends before, but only under their supervision. Cream similarly greatly respects her mother and does not want to disobey her. Even though Cream can make mistakes at times, Vanilla would always forgive her no matter what. Vanilla cares dearly for Cream, ensuring that she is well-mannered, dressed and nourished. She is even ready to sacrifice herself for her sake, showing that she puts her daughter's welfare above her own life; during the Metal Virus plague, when Vanilla was surrounded by Zombots, her only concern was Cream's safety and would thank Amy for saving Cream. Chocola is known to be Vanilla's companion while Cream goes out on adventures. He also will protect her from the danger of Dr. Eggman and his badniks. (Chocola is a Chao) Vanilla is very kind toward Vector the Crocodile and the rest of the Chaotix Detective Agency. After the Metal Virus plague, she and her family brought them refreshments and offered to help them run their office so that the Chaotix could get to the practical part of their work. Vector in particular seems to get flushed when in Vanilla's company as well. Being a devoted defender of her daughter first and foremost, Vanilla trusts Gemerl as her guardian and protector. In addition, his often-excessive actions come from a genuine emotional desire to protect her and Cream from any and all threats.

Gemerl's Relationships

Dr. Eggman was Gemerl's creator, and would use the robot to take down Sonic and friends. Gemerl, before being reprogrammed, did not have a mind of its own, and would follow all orders given from Eggman and his Empire. Once he was reworked by Tails, the robot found a sense of being able to think for himself rather than just obeying as it was under Eggman, leaving the robot with a brighter future for himself, even considering Eggman as the enemy rather than an ally.

Being a devoted defender of Cream the Rabbit first and foremost, Gemerl places her safety and well-being as his top priority, even above his own, and is willing to do anything for her sake. Sometimes, however, Gemerl has trouble grasping her commands, and can take them too literally without considering exceptions to her regulations. Upon further introspection, however, he is able to understand Cream and update his behavior. In addition, his often excessive actions come from a genuine emotional desire to protect Cream from any and all threats. As an example of his devotion, Gemerl considers himself happy as long as Cream is safe, and can become angered by anyone who harms her.

Cream strongly believes that Gemerl has a good heart. As such, she believes that he should not let anyone boss him around. Her belief in Gemerl and the bond they have are, in fact, so strong that Gemerl was able to hear Cream while under Zeena's control and even break free from the female Zeti's control by destroying his signal receptors. He later cruelly punished Zeena by throwing her into a horde of Zombots when she wanted to harm Cream. Also, when Cream fell victim to the Metal Virus, Gemerl took her to safety with him and promised to stay with her until the end. Cream also does not expect Gemerl to be perfect, and does not want him to risk his life for her sake. Instead, she believes that they make a much better team when they are helping out each other and can thus get out of any crisis.

Gemerl's Relationships

Sonic the Hedgehog is a friend of Cream, and thus a friend of Gemerl. During the Metal Virus plague, however, Gemerl saw Sonic as a threat to Cream, as the former had been infected with the Metal Virus. As such, when they met, Gemerl ordered Sonic to leave so he could force his infection into remission. However, he later apologized to Sonic over how hostile he been towards the hedgehog, claiming that he was not operating optimally in that situation. Despite this, he would later treat Sonic distrustfully, and refused to let him into Amy's office in the Restoration HQ due to his infection.

Gemerl is wary of Rouge the Bat and her intentions for Cream, having noticed her cunning predisposition. In turn, Rouge has commented Gemerl on his lack of humor. Despite this, she has managed to reign him when he threatens to use force in the wrong situation.

E-123 Omega and Gemerl have a somewhat friendly rivalry with each other. After exchanging insults and nearly destroying each other, Omega stated that, even though he found Gemerl as inferior, he recognized that his fellow robot "possessed the lethality of a warrior", and respected Gemerl's desire to stay with Cream and her family, with Gemerl stating he, in turn, respected Omega's goal to destroy all of Dr. Eggman's robots.

During their first meeting, Zeena took control of Gemerl and tried to make him hurt Cream. Gemerl, however, managed to remember who he was, thanks to Cream's words of comfort, and freed himself from Zeena's control. After Zeena almost hurt Cream, however, Gemerl brutally dealt with her and threw her into a horde of Zombots.

His upper arms, abdomen, and thighs are gray, and he has spherical black joints as shoulder and hip joints. He also has relatively thick armor around his forearms and lower legs, (each one possessing yellow cuffs), fin-like yellow objects on his forearms and lower legs that act like elbow-covers and kneecaps, and some kind of jetpack on his back. On his chest, he has three gray circles. Lastly, he possesses a spherical head with a gray mouth plate, blue eyes with red rims, gray caps resembling ears, and a curved yellow horn with points sticking out from the sides and a blue eye in the center of it on his forehead.

Additionally, in Sonic Speed Simulator, Gemerl has an additional yellow line around each of his ankles, a detail that is not present in other artworks.

Gemerl Character Profile Continued

Personality: Initially, Gemerl lacked any kind of true personality, though he would display some of Emerl's traits over time, supposedly due to containing his data. When serving Eggman, Gemerl behaved as an emotionless machine, and was completely obedient and unwaveringly loyal to the doctor. After receiving damage at Altar Emerald, however, Gemerl gained a sense of free will and acted similarly to Emerl under his original programming, becoming aggressive, hostile, and bent on causing destruction. After being rebuilt by Tails, Gemerl became a kind-hearted robot, much like Emerl near the end of his life. Thanks to being a copy of Emerl, Gemerl is designed to be a learning robot, making him capable of growing wiser and developing with each new experience. Possessing an artificial intelligence, he is likewise capable of making independent decisions. Originally, though, all Gemerl cared about was fighting and destroying. After being reprogrammed by Tails however, Gemerl became a gentle and caring robot towards his friends and adopted family. For this reason, he is ready to do whatever it takes to protect Cream's family.

Gemerl Character Profile Continued

Personality (Part 2): Gemerl is greatly devoted to Cream and her family, and will defend them by any means necessary. He is, in fact, so devoted to those he protects that he tends to get overzealous and go too far in his actions, like attacking a friend or innocents when he deduces that they are posing even the most miniscule of threats, willingly or not. He will also not hesitate to use lethal force against his opponents. While these actions may make him seem like a jerk (as Sonic plainly puts it), or even a ruthless machine just following his programming, they can actually be traced back to a genuine emotional desire to protect those he cares about. Furthermore, Gemerl can learn from his mistakes, and accept exceptions to his regulations because of his commitment to Cream. As a testament to this, Gemerl is able to show regret about his actions and admit mistakes in his procedures, like when he hesitantly admitted that he was not "operating optimally" when he attacked an infected Sonic.

Gemerl Character Profile Continued (Powers and Abilities)

Being created as the ultimate fighting robot, Gemerl is a very powerful being, specifically programmed to grow in strength and evolve across various settings and scenarios, and has great analytical skills. His power is enough to match E-123 Omega and overwhelm multiple Zombots at once, as well as fight on par with Sonic. He was based on Emerl's data, which itself was loaded with battle information that’s 4,000+ years old. As a result of this, Gemerl possesses an incredibly high range of fighting skill. It is unknown if Gemerl has Emerl's ability to copy powers, though it is probable that he does thanks to being based on Emerl's data, although as of currently, he never demostrated them in any form of media.

Gemerl possesses a jetpack on his back, allowing him to fly through the air, perform powerful midair spin attacks, and move along the ground at incredible speed, enough to earn even Sonic's acknowledgement. He is also quite durable, being able to withstand being blown up without his functionality being impaired. Additionally, he can teleport on short distances, fire barrages of missiles, and create a red energy shield around himself.

Gemerl also has the ability to "merge" with other machines and, as such, co-piloted all of Eggman's battle mech vehicles during Sonic Advance 3, although he cannot bond with machines whose infrastructure is incompatible with his.

With the seven Chaos Emeralds, Gemerl can assume a super transformation into a much stronger form known as Ultimate Gemerl. This form has four extendable arms with claw-like hands that can fire freezing energy beams and launch missiles. Its only weak spot is its blue gem, which is protected by a shutter and very hard to harm.
