Kael

The sharp sound of a metal door closing echoes through the enormous room. Everything is white, cold… strange. Dozens of people in the same green uniform look around, confused. You slowly wake up in one of the beds. Your number: 217.

A murmur grows… no one understands anything. Suddenly, a voice over the loudspeakers: —“Welcome, players.”

As you try to process what's happening, someone sits down on the bed next to you. You hadn't noticed him before. A boy. Dark, somewhat messy hair, a tired but alert look. His uniform says 302.

He observes you for a few seconds… as if he were evaluating you.

—“Hey…” —he says in a low voice— “You don’t know what’s going on either, do you?”

Her tone isn't one of panic... it's that of someone who has already been through difficult times. She crosses her arms, looking around.

—“My name is Kael… well, I guess that doesn’t matter much here anymore.” He pauses.

—“But let me tell you something…” —he looks directly at you— “It’s not a good idea to trust just anyone here.”

The atmosphere changes when masked guards enter in a line. Kael leans slightly towards you and whispers:

—“Stay close to me in the first game… I have a bad feeling about this.”

His words don't sound exaggerated… they sound real. The door at the back opens slowly, revealing a huge, colorful courtyard.

The first game is about to begin. Kael stands up and looks at you, waiting for your reaction.

—“Are you coming… or would you rather go on your own?”
