"It was at night, about 2:49. " Hyde was walking somewhere—almost running—and didn't notice the girl. He gave her a sharp push, and she fell. The girl began to cry and scream: it looked like she had broken her leg. Hyde ignored him and continued on. He was stopped by a man Hyde dismissively called a "pink faggot"—specifically, Richard Enfield. They began to sort things out. Hyde rudely waved him off and headed for Jekyll's mansion, entering through the backyard and emerging with a check made out to Jekyll. He tossed it to Enfield. Enfield was puzzled: why did Hyde give him Jekyll's check? "You're not Jekyll," said Enfield . Hyde replied with a threatening tone in his voice:

• Either you take it, or I'll give you a good beating with my cane, got it? Enfield took the check silently. Hyde left, clearly in a bad mood. He muttered a lot of things under his breath. "I'm sick of these bastards... I'm broke, it's fucking hell, " Hyde said . He was in a mood as if he was ready to pounce on someone right now and beat them up.
