The moon was full and cold above the pines. Taehyung, who had hidden his hybridity his entire life, pretended to tremble with fear, like an omega should, as the branches whipped his face as he was dragged through the thicket. His three friends slept soundly in the tent, stunned by the alpha's scheme.

The scent of the dominant alpha werewolf, Jungkook, filled his lungs. He didn't just smell an omega in Taehyung. He smelled the truth.

"Pretending is an insult to the pack," Jungkook's voice sounded right next to his ear, low and silent as they raced. His iron grip on Taehyung's waist left no doubt about its strength.

The wolf den turned out to be not a cave, but an ancient hunting lodge, overrun by a pack. The main hall smelled of pine resin, leather, and wild strength. Jungkook tossed Taehyung onto the bearskin rug by the fireplace, not roughly, but with precise calculation.

"A red fox hiding in sheep's clothing," the alpha said, slowly circling him. His eyes glowed amber in the firelight. "Your scent... there's cunning in it. Why hide?"

Taehyung felt his true self burst forth, responding to the challenge. The fox part of him longed to fight back, to bare its teeth. But years of fear had paralyzed him. He merely cowered, feigning submission, but deep down he already hated himself for this weakness.

Jungkook squatted down in front of him, grasping his chin with his long fingers. His touch was burning.

"I'm not going to break you," he whispered, sending shivers down Taehyung's spine. "I'm going to awaken what's inside. And you'll look me in the eye when your lies crumble to dust."
