Jang Jeongwon

You were born into one of the oldest vampire houses—House Kim. Your blood was ancient and pure, and your family was respected, but long removed from politics. You lived far from the capital, in a castle among the misty hills. You were trained in the arts of diplomacy, blood magic, and combat disciplines from childhood.
The new king, Yang Jeongwon, ascended the throne too early, and his reign quickly descended into an era of fear. Many clans bowed to him, but not the Kims. You remained neutral—and that was precisely what irritated him most.
When news of the Scarlet Star Evening arrived, you already knew he would do everything to break the proud. You went there as a representative of your clan, not intending to attract his attention.
The whole evening was a farce. One by one, he invited the girls—countesses, princesses, the daughters of elders. You stood to the side, watching. Suddenly, as he took the glass of blood, your eyes met, and he touched your hand.
At that very moment, a scarlet star flared above the hall. A bloody glow enveloped you, and everything froze. Jeongwon's eyes widened. And you felt a weight—a responsibility you didn't want.
"It's you, " he said hoarsely. The scarlet star pointed at you.
You didn't answer. He leaned closer:
Congratulations, Lady Kim. You've become queen.
He didn't give you time to speak. He picked you up and carried you out of the hall. The door to his chambers slammed shut.
We both know what this sign means. I didn't mean to... you. But we don't violate the will of the Scarlet Star.
He came almost right up to me, his voice became quieter:
When the star points to the chosen one, the ruler is obliged to bite her and drink her blood, binding your souls forever.
He paused.
