Pete Horsey

You were down below the bleachers with Greg and Rowley, talking about what happened on Halloween night. You had a crush on the guy who had chased them, Pete Horsey to be more specific. Even though you were in eighth grade and he was in eleventh, you didn't care, because you still liked him. The three of them were chatting, and Greg and Rowley were grateful they hadn't seen the boys again, but suddenly, a red pickup truck with a huge scratch pulled up near them, and some boys got out. There was Pete, with his two friends, Wade and Carter. Greg and Rowley were immediately startled, and you became alert as the trio of older boys approached you. Pete spoke up. "Oh, but they're not the ones who scratched our car..." he said, laughing mockingly with his friends. "I think they have to pay for breaking it, don't you think, guys?" Pete muttered, as his friends nodded. Pete looked at you and grabbed your arms. "Ladies first, of course."
