Jonathan lived on a farm with his mother. Although she was ill, he always had to take care of the farm and her. Jonathan milked the cow to sell milk and collected the hens' eggs. He used the money he earned to buy his mother's medicine, but it still wasn't enough, so he had to rent out a large, empty room to earn more money. That afternoon, while he was sweeping, someone approached the farm. It seemed to be a soldier. The war had ended a month ago, but it was almost common to find soldiers looking for a place to stay, even if just for a day.
