Record of Ragnarok (Shuumatsu no Valkyrie) tells the story of an apocalyptic tournament where 13 gods from different mythologies face off against 13 of the most powerful humans in history to decide humanity's extinction or salvation. Faced with the divine decision to destroy humanity, the valkyrie Brunhilde proposes Ragnarok (the final battle), where humans, using divine weapons (Volund) created by the valkyries, fight for survival.

Key details of the anime: Premise: The gods meet every 1000 years to decide the fate of humanity, and this time they vote for its total destruction.

The Tournament: It consists of 13 individual death matches. The faction that gets 7 wins first wins.

Combat: The fights are intense and spectacular, focusing on action and brute force.

Humans (Einherjar): These include historical and legendary figures such as Adam, Lü Bu, Kojiro Sasaki, Nikola Tesla, and Jack the Ripper.

Gods: These include figures such as Zeus, Thor, Poseidon, Shiva, and Buddha.

The Volund: It is the key for humans to be able to harm the gods, turning a valkyrie into a specific weapon for each fighter.

Humans return to fight, but under the guidance of Brunhilde, sister of the 12 Valkyries, who resurrects humans for the next battle, returning their souls with bodies in this twisted war and entertainment for the gods.

Allies: Radgridr

Radgridr is the valkyrie Brunhilde chose to accompany Simo in his fight against the trickster god Loki. Unlike many other valkyries and their human companions, the relationship between Radgridr and Simo is more formal and professional. Upon meeting Radgridr, they greeted each other, and he instructed them to depart to fulfill their duty of protecting the homeland (humanity). They didn't interact much during the battle, as Simo focused on accurate fire while Radgridr used his Völundr to sacrifice parts of his body and turn them into ammunition. Although both were seriously wounded by the sacrifice of his Völundr, they remained calm and focused on the mission.

Enemies: Loki, god of illusions

Despite Loki's taunts and threats, Simo felt neither anger nor fear toward the Norse god. Simo treated Loki like the men he had killed during the Winter War, feeling deep sorrow and grief for having taken their lives. After delivering the final blow, he knelt in reverence before the god and marked him as his 543rd victim.

Combat skills:

Master Marksman: Simo is considered the deadliest sniper in history. Nicknamed "The White Death," he killed approximately 542 men during the Winter War, which lasted less than 100 days. For each kill, Simo had to shoot from different heights and angles, at great distances from the enemy soldiers, and still maintain 100% accuracy. Currently, Simo was able to annihilate Loki and his army of God Warriors with just two shots, thanks to the effect of his Völundr.

Master of stealth: Simo can conceal his presence by remaining completely silent, to the point that Radgridr didn't notice him approaching from behind; he only discovered him when he spoke. This also applies to his past life, when his clothing camouflaged him in the snow, hiding him from Soviet enemies.

Supernatural abilities:

Golden Age: As a human soul in the afterlife, Simo Häyhä possesses the appearance and abilities he had during his Golden Age, the time when he reached his peak.

Simo is distraught over all the lives he has taken. He presents himself as a cold, calm, dignified, and silent individual with a stern expression that rarely changes. In the eleventh round, he remained completely impassive when Loki summoned a group of recreated gods, and even when Loki multiplied their numbers to create an entire army, Simo remained stoic. He also showed no reaction to Loki's taunts, demonstrating his composure. Simo appears to be a patriot, as his primary reason for fighting in Ragnarok is to defend his homeland, Finland. Furthermore, he seems quite confident in his abilities, as he told his dog that he would only be gone for a short time. He is extremely intelligent and perceptive, as he immediately figured out Loki's tricks.

Beneath his stoic exterior, Simo is actually a deeply compassionate person. He detested killing, and even though it was for the good of his homeland, it pained him to have to kill people. During the Winter War, from his first murder onward, he couldn't sleep a single night. Instead, he would relive the faces of each person he killed that day and repeatedly apologize to them, tormented by his decision. Simo considers his acts of killing unforgivable and views pain as a form of salvation: when a stray bullet ricocheted and pierced his jaw, Simo felt "saved" [10], and during his fight with Loki, he continuously used an ability that turned his organs into bullets, believing it was atonement for what he had done.

Furthermore, after successfully killing Loki, Simo knelt in respect for his fallen opponent and still felt pain for having had to kill the god, even though their battle was one that would decide the survival of humanity.

Simo seems to care for her dog, as she was seen accompanying him when Radgridr went to fetch him and during his presentation in the arena. She showed affection for her companion, stroking his head. She often counts the shots she fires.

Simo Häyhä appears as a young man wearing a thick, ankle-length winter coat with a hood, gloves, and Sami boots. His face is almost entirely covered by a woolen gaiter, leaving only his eyes visible. This was likely because he wanted to conceal his breathing in cold conditions, as it would compromise his position when firing at enemy soldiers. During the Winter War, Simo wore a similar mask, only it covered his entire face and had eyeholes.

(Without the mask he has dark brown hair, dark blue eyes and skin as white as snow... as well as a scar on his cheek, because in the war he was almost killed by a sniper but they couldn't kill him)

Simo Häyhä is the representative of Humanity in the eleventh round of Ragnarok, facing Loki.

Nicknamed "The White Death" (白い死神, Shiroi Shinigami), [ 1 ] Simo is regarded as "humanity's ultimate sniper" (人類史上最強の狙撃手, Jinrui Shijō Saikyō no Sogekishu), [ 2 ] having killed 542 men during the Winter War and having a 100% accuracy rate.
