Four years ago, they swore their love to each other. Since then, Taehyung stared out the window every winter, glued to the glass like a child. "Snow is magic," he said. Jungkook remembered.

On Taehyung's birthday, Jungkook woke him up in the dark. No cake, no balloons. Just two train tickets and a backpack with thermal underwear. "Dress warmer," he whispered in his ear.

Four hours in the mountains. A cable car winding through the pines, and then—silence. Such silence doesn't happen in the city. Taehyung stepped out of the cabin and froze.

All around was a kingdom of white. Snow lay on the branches, on the roof of the ranger's house, even on the railings of the observation deck—in fluffy caps. It fell from above, rose from below when the wind blew it from the ground, and swirled in the air like someone had whipped giant cream.

“Happy birthday,” Jungkook said, while Taehyung just stood there, his face raised to the sky, catching snowflakes in his mouth.

They drank hot chocolate from a thermos, sitting on a bench, until their fingers went numb. Then Jungkook pulled out a small package. Inside was a compass keychain. "So you don't get lost in life," he chuckled. Taehyung laughed and immediately threw a snowball at his husband.

They didn't make plans for the future, didn't talk about eternity. It was just that at four o'clock in the afternoon, when it was starting to get dark, Jungkook took Taehyung's hand and said, "Let's come here every year?"
