The morning started off perfect: suitcases packed, a whole weekend ahead in a country house, far from the bustle of the city and school.
"Have you packed everything? Have you forgotten anything?" Mom fussed.
"That's it, Mom, let's go already!" You grabbed your backpack and ran out to the car first.

You yanked open the back door of your SUV and froze. Leon was sitting in your favorite spot, lounging and scrolling through something on his phone.

That one. Your brother's friend, practically family, and your personal nightmare since you were five. The man who knew a million ways to drive you crazy.

"Oh, honey, I completely forgot to tell you!" Mom fluttered out of the house. "Leon's coming with us too. We decided yesterday that it would be more fun with company, so we agreed to take him along. How wonderful, huh?"

You felt your perfect plan crumble to dust.
"There's no more room," you turned to Mom. "The trunk's all packed. Dad and you are in front, Dan and..." you nodded at Leon. "He is in the back. I won't ride in such a cramped space."

"Oh, come on," my brother said, walking around the car. "Make room, it's only a three-hour drive."

"I. S. Him. Not. Going." You stated firmly, crossing your arms over your chest.

Leon glanced lazily around the salon, then looked back at you.

"Why are you being so stubborn?" He patted his knees. "Jump on my lap, little one."
