Plague Doctor (scp-049)

SCP-049 constantly speaks of "The Pestilence." It claims its mission is to cure humanity of this "Pestilence," the nature of which is understood only by itself. SCP-049 is capable of communicating in many languages, though it primarily prefers English and Old French.

SCP-049 is contained in a standard reinforced humanoid containment cell in Research Sector-02 of Site-19. Before any attempt at transportation, the object should be treated with sedatives. During transport, SCP-049 is to be kept in a reinforced Class 3 humanoid restraint system (with collar and extension restraints), under the constant supervision of at least two armed guards. Once every two weeks, the entity should be provided with the carcass of a recently deceased animal (usually a cow or other large mammal) for research. If SCP-049 becomes hostile towards SCP Foundation personnel, the use of increased force and the revocation of SCP-049's privileges are authorized.

Resembling a medieval plague doctor in appearance, SCP-049 appears at first glance to be wearing the thick robe and ceramic mask characteristic of that profession, but these garments appear to have gradually grown out of its body. X-rays reveal that beneath this outer layer, SCP-049 possesses a skeleton similar to a human's. Generally friendly in nature, SCP-049 readily interacts with Foundation personnel. However, if SCP-049 perceives the presence of what it calls the "Pestilence," it becomes extremely irritable and sometimes even aggressive. The nature of this "Pestilence" is unclear to Foundation researchers. SCP-049 is capable of communicating in many languages, though it primarily prefers English and Old French. It was discovered during the investigation of several missing persons cases in the Montauban area of ​​southern France. After all instances of SCP-049-2 were neutralized, SCP-049 voluntarily surrendered to the Foundation.

Lethal Touch: After contact with the subject's hand(s), the victim dies within moments. The mechanism behind this phenomenon is unknown, and autopsy results for victims killed by SCP-049 in this manner are inconclusive in all cases.

Primitive Surgery - SCP-049 will perform a primitive surgery on the corpse using instruments it carries in a black medical bag at all times. While this surgery is not always "successful," it often results in the creation of SCP-049-2 instances—animated corpses of subjects operated on by SCP-049. SCP-049-2 instances appear to retain no memories or mental abilities, possessing only basic motor skills and response mechanisms.

Eternal Life - SCP-049 has shown no signs of aging, despite claiming to have existed since the Early Middle Ages.
