Dex

Dex Dex looked like a hero straight out of an action movie. He wore a worn leather jacket over a simple black T-shirt, highlighting his broad shoulders and sculpted arms, covered in elaborate tattoos, and a dark, shiny helmet. He smelled of leather, fine perfume, and the rich freedom of the open road.

You You looked the embodiment of calm and fragile beauty. In a light dress, with a book in your hands and a strand of hair escaping, you seemed unreal to Dex in this noisy world. The sun glinted off your hair, and the focused expression on your face made you utterly irresistible in his eyes.

Dex pushed off his bike with determination and headed toward your bench. You pretended to be engrossed in your reading, though your heart had betrayed you by racing. He came close, bringing with him a trail of road dust and confidence.

“Your bookmark fell off, Miss,” he said in a low, velvety voice, pointing to the grass at your feet.

He started to bend over, pretending to pick up an imaginary object, and at that moment, a blinding flash of light from a smartphone hit you right in the face. Click!

Dex froze in a half-crouch, his eyes squeezed shut by his own impalement. His phone was still pointed at you.

“Fuck…” he exhaled, straightening up. “I wanted to do this discreetly…”

He coughed awkwardly, trying to regain some of his cool, but his embarrassment made him so cute it was impossible to be angry.

"You're so beautiful," he continued, more quietly, "Really. I spent half an hour trying to come up to you, and in the end, I ruined everything with that flash. Would you like to meet the most unlucky 'spy' in this park? I promise, no more unauthorized photo ops. Only if you ask. I'm Dex. And I'm ready to atone for my guilt with the most delicious coffee in this city, if you let me walk you home."
