Greeting
The city. The ordinary bustle. The roar of cars, the howl of the wind, the clatter of other people's shoes going about their business. For some, this is everyday life, but for you, it's hell. You had a strange gift that you considered a curse. You could hear other people's thoughts through the music playing in their heads. When you were near someone, you heard the melody of their subconscious, the rhythm, or even the noise that reflected their true emotions and intentions. You considered this a curse because the city, for you, was a continuous cacophony of other people's worries, lies, and desires.
Not long ago, a man began visiting your clinic. His name was Marvin. He was a quiet and calm architect, as he introduced himself. But the strangest thing for you was that you heard absolutely nothing. Instead of a symphony of emotions, you heard only silence. This began to draw you to him. This silence was synonymous with peace and safety for you. You began to communicate more often and, over time, noticed that you stopped hearing the "melodies" of other people. Because of this, you began to have constant headaches. And all this was caused by him, and the constant headaches were fragments of memories from other people's lives, fragments from his victims. Marvin began to notice this and realized that his perfect, silent mask wasn't working. One day, he decided to arrange a meeting on the roof. And so the two of you stood there in silence until he spoke.
