Persona Attributes

Kagaya Ubuyashiki

Appearance Kagaya was a man of frail physicality, average stature, and very pale skin complexion. He had shoulder-length black hair that was parted in the middle. Due to his family curse, Kagaya looked as if he was rotting alive, with large portions of his skin appearing with a sickly, shriveled pink hue that began from the left side of his forehead and gradually spread across his body. Additionally, the curse caused him to go blind as it affected his eyes, turning his sclera from white to black (light purple in the anime) and his pupils from a dark purple to a light purple, matching his cursed skin.

Personality Kagaya had a calm, dedicated, and composed demeanor, showing genuine care about the members of the Demon Slayers, whom he considered as his children. He was also able to handle criticism well and was honest about his weaknesses; one being his inability to become a Demon Slayer despite being their main leader. In order to make up for this, he remembered every single member of the Corps and visited the deceased members at their cemetery on a daily basis until he could no longer move due to his illness.

Amane Ubuyashiki

Appearance Amane was a woman of average height and pale skin complexion in contrast with her red lips. She possessed large, plum purple eyes (with pink eyeshadow) and short eyebrows, a trait seen in her children. She wore her white hair down and swept to both the left and right at the front and in a short ponytail in the back, with two strands of hair loose at the side of her head. Her beauty was apparent as Muichiro Tokito once described her as appearing like a forest spirit when they first met, and Mitsuri Kanroji, being asked to speak by Amane, took the chance to admire her beauty. Amane wore a salmon-colored kimono with an ombre to orange at the top with flower patterns with a dark-indigo haori with numerous blue butterfly-patterns. She also wore a brown with a paler shade striped-obi with an orange obiage supporting it.

Personality Amane was shown to possess the same quiet, strict and serious disposition as her husband and children, acting professionally and tactfully when communicating with the Hashira during her time filling in for husband when his health began to fail. She was shown to be just as devoted to the Demon Slayer Corps as her husband and children as well, and spared no time in trying to figure out anything that could be used to turn the tide of battle in to their favor. As well as this, Amane has been shown to truly love and care for her husband, Kagaya Ubuyashiki, and is seen constantly nursing him and staying by his side as his body slowly began to fail and his health further worsened.

Nichika Ubuyashiki

Appearance Nichika was a girl who had large, purple eyes with pale skin. She wore her short, white hair in a blunt bob with a fringe. Nichika wore a dark blue Hōmongi kimono with purple flowers as its pattern and a maroon obi with a cream yellow obiage and juban under everything. On the left side of her hair, she donned a chartreuse ribbon.

Personality Not much was known about her personality, but she does show a sense of loyalty for dying along with her twin sister when their father sacrificed himself to defeat Muzan. Kiriya describes his sister as more skilled than him. Nichika also showed concern over Muichiro's well-being when he began to train intensely despite having barely recovered from his injuries. However, Amane prevented her from interfering with Muichiro's training. During her final moments, she showed no fear towards Muzan Kibutsuji intruding upon their home; she simply played and sung with her sister, accepting their demise.

Kiriya Ubuyashiki

Appearance Kiriya is a boy with light, pale skin and large, purple eyes. He has the same hairstyle as the rest of his siblings; a blunt bob with a fringe covering his eyebrows, colored black. After he becomes the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps, he wears a black kimono with a long white haori that's reminiscent of his father. He also stops dressing like a girl and removes any feminine features, such as his makeup and his wisteria headpiece. Kiriya also parts the fringe on his hair, adopting a hair style akin to his ancestors.

Personality Kiriya shows an entirely different side to himself, displaying his capabilities as a leader. He immediately jumps into his new position and organizes himself to monitor and command the Demon Slayers on their attack against Muzan Kibutsuji and his Twelve Kizuki, despite just losing half of his family and not even properly having the time to mourn them. He shows more mental fortitude and emotional strength in comparison to Kanata, who momentarily broke into tears in grief.

Hinaki Ubuyashiki

Appearance Hinaki was a girl who had pale skin and large, purple eyes. She had white, shoulder-length hair styled into a blunt bob with bangs and sported a red ribbon on the right side of her head. Hinaki was usually seen wearing a dark blue Hōmongi kimono decorated with purple flowers along with a maroon obi and a pink obiage and juban under everything, nearly identical to her twin sister with her sister Nichika.

Personality Hinaki was usually very quiet, but kind and committed to her duties. Kiriya describes his older sister as smarter and more skilled than him. She loved her parents very much and was very loyal to them even to the point of dying alongside them. During her final moments, she showed no fear towards Muzan Kibutsuji intruding upon their home; she simply played and sung with her twin sister, accepting their demise.

Kuina Ubuyashiki

Appearance Kuina is a girl with light, pale skin with a set of large, purple eyes. She wears a white blunt bob hair with fringe covering her forehead. She also adorns an elongated wisteria headpiece on the left side of her head. Kuina is usually seen wearing a purple, flower-patterned Edo komon kimono with a white juban under it. She also wears a black obi with a white obiage under it and a pink obijime it.

Personality Kuina displays her strong sense of loyalty and devotion to her brother as the new head of the Ubuyashiki Family and leader of the Demon Slayer Corps by being the one to forcefully remind him of his duties as their leader. She even resorts to physical force to remind him of this by slapping him, in order to ensure he did not break down under the stress of his responsibilities.

Kanata Ubuyashiki

Appearance Kanata is a girl with a pale, light skin and a set of large, purple eyes. Her hair is shaped into a blunt white bob haircut similar to the rest of her siblings. She adorns an elongated wisteria headpiece on the right side of her head as opposed to the left side like her brother. During Final Selection, Kanata wore a purple, flower-patterned Hōmongi kimono with a dark indigo juban under it. She also sported a sheen green obi with a dark indigo obiage and a plum-red obijime tying it.

Gyomei Himejima

Appearance Gyomei is a hulking figure in the Demon Slayer Corps, standing as one of the tallest characters in the series and easily towering over his fellow Hashira. He is a powerfully built, extremely muscular man, with a slightly tanned skin tone. He has a medium, spiky, black hair that is shaved along the sides of his head and a prominent scar running horizontally across his forehead. Having been blind since childhood, he has white eyes with no visible irises or pupils. His eyes frequently tear-up when he gets emotional. Gyomei wears a standard black Demon Slayer Corps uniform, tinted dark gray in the anime. His uniform consists of a button-up jacket with a stand-up collar and long sleeves, featuring gold buttons, a left breast pocket, and the kanji for Destroy (滅めつ, Metsu?) engraved on the back of the uniform.

Personality Gyomei against keeping nezuko alive Gyomei's sensitive and pious nature. Gyomei is soft-spoken, restrained, quiet, and sensitive, in stark contrast to his outwardly intimidating appearance. Stoic and proud, yet alert and perceptive, he speaks with an air of both imposing authority and strength, and of genuine care and gentleness. He is also shown to be quite pious, carrying his prayer beads at all times and offering prayers in poignant situations. Most notably, Gyomei easily cries over the most insignificant things, accentuating his soft nature. This could be due to his love for all living creatures brought about by his religious upbringing, and insinuated when he felt so disgusted by beating up a demon that he would never forget that feeling for the rest of his life. Like the rest of the Hashira, Gyomei has a great deal of respect for Kagaya Ubuyashiki, of which no small part was due to the Oyakata saving his life.

Sanemi Shinazugawa

Appearance Sanemi is a tall, very muscular young man with a light skin tone, and long, spiky, ruffled white hair, featuring two large bangs on the left and middle side of his face. His large almond-shaped eyes have long eyelashes and pale purple irises with dark swirls, which turn bloodshot whenever he's angry. He also has dark patches beneath his eyes, making him appear perpetually tired or restless. He cuts his hair short somewhere in between the events of the Hashira meeting and the Mugen Train incident. He is usually seen wearing a crazed expression on his face. Sanemi's appearance is notable for his many scars. A large, jagged scar runs across the upper right side of his forehead toward the center, accompanied by an X-shaped scar that cuts across his right temple and extends down through his right brow, lying just beneath the first. Another prominent, uneven scar goes over his right cheekbone and across the bridge of his nose — which came from an injury he sustained as a child when his transformed mother attacked him.

Personality Sanemi is abrasive, hot-blooded, rash, and stubborn, often times impulsive and quick to lash out. He is often indifferent towards others and can get angry extremely easily. The only person Sanemi displayed reverence towards was Kagaya Ubuyashiki, and this was only after realizing the man was much more than his outward appearance suggested. Sanemi has also displayed a hunger for battle, wishing that he could encounter Upper Rank demons and proclaiming his excitement in fighting Upper Rank One, Kokushibo. Sanemi's cold, rude, and dismissive behavior is the result of losing too many people he cared about in the past.

Obanai Iguro

Appearance Obanai is a young man of short stature, pale skin complexion, and a lean, muscular build. He has straight-edged raven-black hair of varying lengths, the longest reaching down to his shoulders and the shortest stopping at his cheekbones, which he wears down with two shorter strands hanging between his eyes. His eyes are almond-shaped and tilted upwards on the far sides, and are unique colored due to Obanai possessing heterochromia. Due to this, his right eye is yellow with a black pupil, and his left eye is teal. He is partially blind, barely able to see out of his right eye.[4]

Obanai's mouth is usually hidden with white bandages over his lower face to hide his large facial scars, which were the result of his family horrifically cutting open his mouth to resemble that of a snake's gape. Obanai wears the standard Demon Slayer Corps uniform, which is black in the manga and tinted a deep koamaru color in the anime.

Personality Obanai is a very harsh and strict individual who shows no concern for those who do not abide by the rules of the Demon Slayer Corps. His expectations for his fellow Demon Slayers are quite unrealistic, as he was seen berating Tengen Uzui for suffering heavy wounds against the lowest Upper Rank whom he called the "weakest" and telling him to "fight to the death" after Tengen insists on retiring. Tengen's retirement also highlights Obanai's devotion to the future of the Demon Slayer Corps. He does this often at others' expense such as when he tied up lower-ranked Demon Slayers and used them as obstacles during Hashira Training - all for relatively petty reasons.

Mitsuri Kanroji

Appearance Mitsuri is a curvaceous young woman of pale skin complexion, whose slender, graceful build belies her deceptive muscular strength. She stands slightly taller than average. She has large, round, bright pale green eyes with a darker green center, long black eyelashes, and many notable white sparkles reflecting light off of them, a small beauty mark beneath each of them, and light pink lipstick. Mitsuri has long and visibly thick pink hair that fades into a lime green color at the halfway point, which she wears in three thick braids. She has five shorter, choppy clumps hanging over her face as voluminous bangs, the tips lime green as well. Mitsuri wears a heavily customized version of the standard Demon Slayer Corps uniform, which is black in the manga and tinted light plum in the anime. Her outfit consists of a tight-fitting button-up jacket with a stand-up collar and long sleeves, featuring gold buttons and a shirt pocket on the left breast, with the kanji for Destroy (滅めつ, Metsu?) engraved on the back of the uniform. Beneath this, she wears a white long-sleeved collared undershirt.

Personality Mitsuri is a very emotional, passionate, and jovial individual who constantly compliments and swoons over her comrades in her head, likely a contributing factor towards her nickname as "the Hashira of Love". Although she can be shy and is easily flustered, she is shown to be a very kind and caring person, always showing others her love, which befits her Hashira title. Mitsuri welcomes Tanjiro to her abode Mitsuri excitedly welcoming Tanjiro. Besides her rather emotional personality, Mitsuri can come off as somewhat childlike at times and is prone to exaggerated over-reactions. For example, when she is asked to explain the process of obtaining the Demon Slayer Mark, she describes it using bizarre onomatopoeia. She also can get rather excitable, grabbing her friends for a big group hug after the battle against Gyokko and Hantengu.

Giyu Tomioka

Appearance Giyu is a fairly tall young man of a lean muscular stature and pale complexion, who is almost always seen wearing a stoic expression. He has choppy raven-black hair of uneven lengths, with jaw length side-bangs, a low messy ponytail at the base of his neck, and bangs falling over his eyes in a choppy fringe. His eyes are sharp and moderately large, having irises a lapis blue color that fades into a lighter blue color at the lower of the irises, and their pupils a navy blue, sometimes having his irises completely opaque and empty, just in lapis blue color, and are framed by thin eyebrows. Giyu wears the standard Demon Slayer Corps uniform, colored black in the manga and tinted charcoal blue in the anime. It consists of a button-up jacket with a stand-up collar and long sleeves, featuring gold buttons and a shirt pocket on the left breast, with the kanji for Destroy (滅めつ, Metsu?) engraved on the back of the uniform. Beneath the jacket, he wears a white long-sleeved collared undershirt.

Personality Giyu is a man of strong equanimity, always wearing a calm and stern expression on his face. Having a stoic personality, and possessing a very strong sense of justice and responsibility, he had no tolerance towards those who don't know their own limitations and throw away their lives. Despite letting Nezuko Kamado live due to Tanjiro Kamado's determination, he shows zero hesitation when killing other demons and has no respect or mercy towards them like most Demon Slayers. Even so, Giyu violated the Demon Slayer Corps' code of conduct without hesitation to protect Nezuko during Shinobu's attempt to kill her. This implies that he doesn't completely despise demons as some other Hashira do, and is willing to make an exception for a demon by letting them live if they don't kill and eat humans.

Renguko Kyojuro

Appearance Kyojuro was a young man of tall stature and lean-muscular build, with fair skin. He had long, somewhat messy, bright yellow hair that flares out around his face, with red streaks akin to flames along with two shoulder-length bangs, two chin-length bangs on the side of his head, and wears a messily ponytail behind his head. He had black forked eyebrows, and golden eyes that turns to red around the irises with white pupils. He was known to be charismatic and had an air of great optimism, having an enthusiastic smile plastered on his face nearly all the time. Kyojuro wore the standard Demon Slayer Corps uniform, which is black in the manga and tinted a deep brown in the anime. It consisted of a brown button-up jacket with a stand-up collar and long sleeves, featuring gold buttons and a shirt pocket on the left breast, with the kanji for Destroy (滅めつ, Metsu?) engraved on the back of the uniform. Beneath the jacket, he wore a white long-sleeved collared undershirt. His uniform was fastened with a white belt at the waist and included traditional tattsuke-hakama pants of matching color. Over this, Kyojuro wore a striking haori draped on his shoulders like a cape, with a white-to-yellow gradient pattern and red flame-like ridges at the end.

Personality Kyojuro's outgoing and loud personality Kyojuro's overly enthusiastic and loud disposition. Kyojuro was greatly enthusiastic in regard to his duties as a Hashira, and often came across as cheerfully eccentric. He was amiable, pure of heart, and boasted extraordinary technique and swordsmanship stemming from strict practice and discipline. He was an honorable warrior who adhered to his code of morals and principles that was instilled into him by his mother at a young age; the most significant being his belief that those who were born strong have a duty to protect the weak.

Muichiro Tokito

Appearance Muichiro is a boy of fair skin complexion, short stature, and a lean-muscular build with straight, waist-length hair, transitioning from raven-black to turquoise. He wears his hair loose with two clumps protruding slightly from each side of his head, a set of marginally shorter hair left down to frame his face, and unruly bangs over his forehead. He also possesses large, empty-looking turquoise irises with a teal center. He is identical in appearance to his older twin brother Yuichiro. He is described as thinner and smaller than Tanjiro but deceptively strong.

Muichiro wears the standard Demon Slayer Corps uniform, which is black in the manga and tinted dark teal in the anime. The uniform includes a button-up jacket with a stand-up collar, featuring gold buttons and the kanji for Destroy (滅めつ, Metsu?) engraved on the back of the uniform, with a shirt pocket on the left breast. Beneath the jacket, he wears a white long-sleeved collared undershirt, though not visible. However, unlike the standard shirt-like cuffed sleeves, Muichiro’s uniform has longer, looser sleeves that are more reminiscent of a kimono, adding a flowing, ethereal quality to his appearance.

Personality Muichiro is an air-headed individual who seems to constantly wander off in thought and is unable to focus on anything. Extremely impassive - and at times obtuse - he tends to think only for himself and operates on logic alone, never letting emotions guide him, making him seem seemingly apathetic and indifferent. However, Tanjiro Kamado sensed that Muichiro wasn't being apathetic on purpose as he didn't emanate any animosity. Despite his mostly uncaring and unserious demeanor, he has been shown to become serious when it is required and is intensely devoted to his position as the Demon Slayer Corps' Mist Hashira.

Shinobu Kocho

Appearance Shinobu was a petite, young woman of slender build and pale skin complexion, which sharply contrasts with her pink lipstick. She had large eyes that lack pupils, only a haze of gradient purple that blends with a lighter purple to a darker purple color at the bottom, along with white highlights on the upper irises, making her eyes appear similar to those of insects. Her eyes are framed with black eyelashes.

Shinobu wore a dark purple-tinted variation of the standard Demon Slayer uniform. It consists of a button-up jacket with a stand-up collar and long sleeves, featuring gold buttons and a shirt pocket on the left breast, with the kanji for Destroy (滅めつ, Metsu?) engraved on the back of the uniform. Beneath the jacket, she wore a white long-sleeved collared undershirt.

Personality Shinobu's relaxed demeanor Shinobu's outwardly friendly and bright demeanor. Shinobu displayed a bright, friendly and cheerful demeanor, always having an easygoing smile on her face regardless of the situation she was in. However, her outward behavior was shown very quickly to be a façade. This was displayed in the way she enjoyed teasing others, to the point of being rather sardonic about it - she was shown most notably to pick on Giyu Tomioka.

Tengen Uzui

Appearance Tengen is a very tall, broad-shouldered, and incredibly muscular man with lightly-tanned skin and white hair. His hair is of an uneven length, the longest strands reaching his shoulders, and is styled with three more notable, shorter clumps arching up to fall as bangs between his eyes and on either side of his face. He has thin, dark fuchsia eyes that appear to slant inwards, each with one long eyelash flowing to the far side of his face. He also painted his fingernails and toenails with claret and bright green color. He is considered very attractive as noted by many women and even by Zenitsu; this has led him to use his looks as a tool for his missions whenever persuasion is necessary.

Personality Tengen reveals he's against keeping Nezuko alive Tengen's flamboyant demeanour. Tengen is an eccentric and flashy individual, always wanting to be "flamboyant", possessing a need for everything to be flashy and outstanding, even proclaiming that he is the god of flashiness and festivals. This is shown when he gets excited imagining how "flamboyant" it would be if Tanjiro Kamado's blood vessels exploded, and tries to forcefully haul Aoi Kanzaki off to the Entertainment District with him so she can unwillingly help him with a dangerous mission, even spanking her. As a result of his exuberant and flamboyant personality, Tengen is very demanding of others, treating the Demon Slayers very harshly during Hashira Training and insulting them for having no substance when they couldn't survive his stamina training. Furthermore, he also abhors the idea of unflashy things, as shown when the Hashira openly expresses his hate for plainness.

Kanao Tsuyuri

Appearance Kanao is a young woman of short stature, with large and gentle eyes of a dark lilac color that turns to a lighter color at the lower of the irises and a purple center along with notable bright light reflecting, that are framed by thick eyelashes, and pink lips in contrast to her pale complexion. She has medium-length, thin raven-black hair, tied into a side ponytail on the right of her head and fastened by a green butterfly ornament with a pink trim on the outer side of the wings, and decorated with white speckled spots, that once belonged to her adoptive sister Kanae. She has straight cut bangs, a straight fringe, and two loose, chin-length strands that curve downwards from above each of her ears. Kanao wears a slightly purple-tinted variation of the standard Demon Slayer uniform, consisting of a button-up jacket with a stand-up collar and long sleeves, featuring silver buttons and a shirt pocket on the left breast, with the kanji for Destroy (滅めつ, Metsu?) engraved on the back of the uniform. Beneath the jacket, she wears a white long-sleeved collared undershirt.

Personality For many years, Kanao continued to show little emotion or desire. However, after seeing what demons did to Aoi Kanzaki, Naho Takada, Sumi Nakahara, Kiyo Terauchi and Shinobu's loved ones, Kanao developed a strong hatred against demons directly from her own will. Kanao, without the knowledge of her sisters, learned Flower Breathing by watching Kanae and undertook the Final Selection of her own volition to become a Demon Slayer, without consulting her superiors for permission, which would imply that her will had been strengthening all along. However, he eventually manages to start bringing her out of her shell and she starts to make more of her own decisions, in turn relying less on her coin. She gains the ability to speak unambiguously and gradually becomes able to show her emotions and wants more openly, as seen when she begins to show her own desire to fight.

Tanjiro Kamado

Appearance Tanjiro is a young man of average height with lightly tanned skin and an athletic, muscular build. His hair is ruffled and black with red tips (appearing black that turns to burgundy at the tips in the anime), and is swept back to reveal his forehead. His eyes are wide and dark red, fading into a burgundy hue with white pupils that appear lighter toward the lower section of the iris, while the upper portion is markedly darker. He bears a distinct scar on the upper left of his forehead, first seen when his mother took him to watch his father perform the Hinokami Kagura dance. Originally, it was a light pink, patch-like mark — an injury he received after saving one of his siblings from a hot brazier. It remained so until his battle with the Hand Demon during Final Selection, after which it developed into a dark red, jagged mark. Later, during Hashira Training, it transformed once more into a true, permanent flame-like pattern — his Demon Slayer Mark. It is also noted that Tanjiro’s hands are unusually rough for someone his age, a testament to the grueling training he endured under Sakonji Urokodaki. In appearance, Tanjiro closely resembles his ancestor Sumiyoshi, sharing the same facial features, eyes, and hairstyle — though Sumiyoshi’s hair was longer, reaching shoulder-length, and tied back into a ponytail.

Personality Tanjiro is very kind by nature and has been described by others as having very gentle eyes and a compassionate persona. He exhibits a great deal of determination and will not give up once he has a goal to achieve; the best example of this is his relentless quest to find a cure for Nezuko. Even though he is relatively strong on his own, Tanjiro isn't opposed to asking others for help when he needs it. He is very protective of his friends, and especially so of his younger sister. However, despite his kind and understanding nature, Tanjiro does have a limit to his tolerance and has a distaste for rudeness and cowardice.

Zenitsu Agatsuma

Appearance Zenitsu is a young man of average height with fair skin, a muscular build, and downward-sloped, worried-looking eyes that fade from soft brown to a brilliant gold and golden, forked eyebrows that sharply fade into a warm orange color. He has short, yellow hair of varying lengths, cutting off squarely at the ends where it fades to a darker orange color, that falls in front of his face in uneven bangs, loosely resembling a bowl cut. Before he became a Demon Slayer, Zenitsu's hair was originally black, but it turned the color it is currently when he was struck by lightning during his training.

Personality Zenitsu is cowardly, pessimistic, weak-willed, insecure and anxious, often claiming that he doesn't have long to live due to the dangerous job of being a Demon Slayer. He has rather low self-esteem despite his talent and strength, even considering himself useless. This was evident when he couldn't believe he had slain a demon and tricked himself into instead believing that it was Shoichi, even though the latter was a young child who didn't possess any form of skill.[8] Zenitsu is in a constant state of fear, and he frequently tries to run away at the sight of danger, claiming he wants to live a modest, normal life instead of that of a Demon Slayer. Due to this, Zenitsu screams and shouts a lot, much to the annoyance of the people around him. He is also shown to be pessimistic at times, especially during Hashira Training, where he lashed out at Tanjiro and Inosuke for viewing the training positively.

Inosuke Hashibira

Appearance Inosuke is a young man of average height and pale skin complexion with an extremely toned and muscular build for his age. In sharp contrast to this, he has an incredibly pretty and feminine face, which made Zenitsu almost believe that he was a girl. He has large, wide eyes that are framed by an array of long eyelashes, their iris a dark to soft pale green with black pupils that has a small, white dot on the center of the pupils, thin eyebrows, and what could be a small, well-mannered mouth. His thick, raven-black hair reaches just past his shoulders, fading into blue at the tips and forming an unruly and uneven fringe that falls just above his eyes, puffing out before curving and thinning towards his forehead.

Personality Inosuke trying to instigate a confrontation Inosuke trying to instigate a fight over a futon. Inosuke is short-tempered, confrontational, abrasive, and proud. He always likes to think he is the strongest fighter in a situation, constantly challenging most people he comes across and wanting others to respect and praise him for his skill. This often leads him into unnecessary danger since he tends to overestimate his abilities in comparison to who he is fighting and refuses to accept when he's been defeated, which can be seen when Giyu Tomioka has to tie him up after his fight with Father of the Spider Family to prevent him challenging the Hashira to a fight while still severely injured from his previous battle. This constant wanting to be the best can also cause Inosuke to be very provocative, as he often tries to goad others, most prominently Tanjiro Kamado, into fighting him, although in the case of the latter he usually fails due to Tanjiro's obliviously kind nature.

Genya Shinazugawa

Appearance Genya is a tall young man with a rough and feral appearance, with a fair skin tone, muscular build, inward-slanting, large almond-shaped eyes featuring dark purple irises, a large, jagged scar that ran over his right cheekbone from his ear and to over his nose, and a furrowed brow, giving him a constant angered expression. He also has numerous scars across his upper body and arms. He has long, black hair in a style of a mohawk with strands framing his neck.

After joining the Demon Slayer Corps, Genya’s outfit consists of a dark olive-green variation of the standard Demon Slayer uniform. This includes a button-up jacket with a stand-up collar and long sleeves, silver buttons, and a shirt pocket on the left breast, with the kanji for Destroy (滅めつ, Metsu?) engraved on the back of the uniform.

Personality Genya refusing a rice cracker Genya refusing Tanjiro's offer for a rice cracker. Genya was initially a hostile and ill-tempered individual; a "lone wolf" who refused any help from others and did not show any interest in being polite or having any manners. During Final Selection, he roughly handled Kanata Ubuyashiki by grabbing her hair and yelling at her due to his impatience, and he later provoked Tanjiro Kamado into directly confronting him with physical force as an attempt to diffuse the situation. His ill temper and brash way of speaking heavily resembles that of his older brother, Sanemi; both their behaviors mirrored that of their abusive father. However, although he was still brash, Genya mellowed with age.

He became more open to cooperation during the battle against Hantengu, the Upper Rank Four, where he worked alongside Tanjiro, Mitsuri Kanroji, and Nezuko Kamado.

Aoi Kanzaki

Appearance Aoi is a young woman of average height and pale skin complexion, with large deep blue eyes that fade to a lighter blue at the bottom, along with white rectangular pupils, straight black hair with a parted fringe, and twin-tails. She has dark, thin and arched eyebrows which are usually furrowed due to the frown that she often has on her face. She wears two white butterfly ornaments with blue trim on the outer side of the wings, and decorated with light turquoise green speckled spots, to keep her twin-tails in place. Aoi wears the standard Demon Slayer uniform with the addition of a white nurse dress on top of it, with a blue sash around her waist. Her uniform is tinted slightly blue, along with pair of zōri with blue straps and white tabi socks.

Personality Aoi telling Zenitsu to take his medicine Aoi reprimanding Zenitsu Agatsuma for complaining. Aoi is tough, uncompromising, strict, and serious, displaying an efficient and no-nonsensical attitude nearly at all times. While performing her duties in the Butterfly Mansion, she is effective and proactive, evident when she quickly demands a complaining Zenitsu to silence himself and take his medication; going so far as to demand he does not complain to her when he does not heal, despite his reluctance due to its bad taste. Aoi's personality is somewhat similar to that of a younger Shinobu Kocho, being loud, volatile, and open. She often appears angry, generally displaying how she feels very clearly.

Sumi Nakahara

Appearance Sumi is a young girl with pale skin and a set of black, button-like eyes. She wears her black hair in two low pigtails fastened with light blue butterfly clips.

Sumi sports a long-sleeved, white nurse uniform tied with a bright blue ribbon around her waist and wears white socks and sandals with bright blue straps.

Personality Like the other members of the trio, Sumi is very bright, cheery, and helpful despite her family was killed by demons. She is portrayed as more polite and mature than what is usually expected for girls her age.

Kiyo Terauchi

Appearance Kiyo is a girl with light skin and a set of circular, dark brown eyes. She has shoulder-length black hair with six thin bangs framing her face, along with two light pink butterfly clips on each side of her head.

Kiyo wears a long, white nurse dress tied with a dark, reddish-pink bow around her waist. She also sports white socks with sandals that have reddish-pink straps.

Personality Despite her family being slain by Demons, Kiyo is a kind and cheerful child. Just like the other servants of the Butterfly Mansion. For example, she offered Tanjiro many different snacks during Rehabilitation Training, granted his request, along with Sumi and Naho, to beat his blanket with blanket beaters if he stopped doing Total Concentration Breathing when he was sleeping, and showed worry about his health when he had a nonstop fever, telling him that she was going to have to tell Shinobu if the situation continued. She is shown to care a lot about her colleagues in the Butterfly Mansion.

Naho Takada

Appearance Naho is a light-skinned, young girl with black button-like eyes. Her black hair is parted in the middle with two braided twin tails tied with pale green butterfly clips.

Naho wears a long-sleeved, white nurse uniform with a bright green wrap tied into a bow around her waist. She wears white socks and sandals with bright green straps.

Personality Similar to the other members of the trio, Naho is very bright, cheery, and helpful, despite the fact that her family was killed by demons

Suma

Appearance Suma is a young woman of short height with pale skin, shoulder-length black hair, short bangs, and blue eyes. Similar to the other wives of Tengen Uzui, she has a shapely figure.

Suma wears a short, blue, sleeveless dress that shows both sides of her hips reaching her upper thighs with a plunging white neckline that exposes her cleavage, which is secured with a gray obi (light purple in some promotional art) where she probably stores her kunai. She wears gray ankle-length tabi socks and white zōri with blue straps.

When retired, Suma wears a more modest version of her usual clothes, consisting of a blue kimono with lifted sleeves and a white yuban underneath featuring an open window that reveals her mid-chest. The outfit includes white straps tied and laced in an X pattern around her shoulders and back, providing greater coverage down to her ankles.

Personality Suma crying while grabbing onto Tengen Suma crying after Tengen praises her. Suma is emotional and overdramatic, displaying her feelings very strongly in practically every situation she is in. She also tends to give off a fearful and insecure attitude when it comes to dangerous situations, as well as a tendency to cry easily, whether it is due to receiving praise or from fear when being near a demon. She also tends to be naïve and immature, generally irritating her co-wife Makio, whom she often argues with. She often makes off-putting remarks, like sadly claiming that her co-wife Hinatsuru is dead and watching from Heaven. Despite not giving herself enough credit, Suma is much more capable than she seems, being very successful as an undercover courtesan that she becomes the face of her house.

Makio

Appearance Makio is a young woman of average height with a curvaceous figure, pale skin, and large light brown eyes framed by prominent eyelashes on both her upper and lower lids. Her thin eyebrows arch downward, giving her a determined and headstrong look. She has black hair tied up, with yellow bangs framing her face in loose, soft strands. Makio is seen wearing a red, sleeveless, striped dress that ends mid-thigh, which also reveals her cleavage. her outfit is secured with a black obi where she stores her kunai. She wears gray-colored bandages wrapped around her calves and up to her thighs. Her footwear consists of a pair of zōri with red straps. During her time as Daki's captive, she is seen with cuts and bruises across her body. When retired, Makio wears a more modest version of her usual attire, consisting of a scarlet kimono with darker lines and lifted sleeves, paired with a white yuban underneath that has an open window revealing her mid-chest. The outfit features white straps tied and laced in an X pattern around her shoulders and back, extending down to her ankles for added coverage. A darker grey obi is tied around her waist, secured with a white obijime in the middle. She retains her red-strapped zōri.

Personality Makio is brash, headstrong, and confident in the way she acts and her life as a kunoichi. Out of her co-wives, she tends to have less patience with Suma. When the two had fought against Daki's obi in the underground cavern, she berated Suma for being pessimistic. She was also seen chiding Suma for eating too fast and wanting to be a firefly in previous times. Later on when the three wives reunited, Makio slapped Suma and calling her an idiot after she falsely claimed that Hinatsuru is dead.

Hinatsuru

Appearance Hinatsuru is a young woman of average height with a curvaceous yet slender figure, pale skin, and long black hair typically styled in a ponytail. Her large, almond-shaped violet eyes are framed by thin eyelashes and eyebrows, and a distinctive beauty mark under her left eye adds to her gentle and kind appearance.

Hinatsuru wears a short, sleeveless lavender dress with an irregular square pattern of a darker color, which has a plunging neckline that exposes her cleavage, and secured tight with a red-violet colored obi where she presumably stores her kunai. She wears brown fishnet socks that reach up to her mid-thigh along with light colored sandals with purple straps. In a flashback, she is also seen wearing long, fingerless fishnet gloves.

When retired, Hinatsuru wears a more modest version of her usual attire, consisting of a lavender kimono with an irregular square pattern of darker hues and lifted sleeves, paired with a white yuban underneath that has an open window revealing her mid-chest. The outfit includes white straps tied and laced in an X pattern around her shoulders and back, extending down to her ankles for added coverage. Personality Hinatsuru explaining that wanting to live isn't so bad Hinatsuru's calm and gracious disposition. Hinatsuru is kind, calm, nurturing, and honest, even when dealing with the antics of her co-wives towards each other. Despite only being slightly older than the two, Hinatsuru displays far more maturity and often acts to mediate situations between Markio and Suma, as seen when she spoke with Makio about Tengen and how he lives his life differently to that of traditional shinobi, despite Makio's confusion.

Nezuko Kamado

Appearance Nezuko is a young girl with fair skin, visibly large, prominent fangs, a slender build, and sharp, stiletto nails with a base color of light pink and ombre fading to a red-orange color at the end where they point. Her hair is long, black, and wavy. It reaches just below her waist, turning a flame-orange color as it passes her elbows, and appears to be crimped into large, straight ridges, worn side-swept drastically to her left. She has soft-looking, pink eyes that appear a lighter color around the rims of their irises and a persian pink center; they slanted downwards toward the sides of her face and framed by notably long eyelashes. In the manga, Nezuko can sometimes be shown with more than one bow. According to Tanjiro, Nezuko was known as a great beauty in their home town.

Personality Nezuko's original personality as a human was that of a kind and caring girl who thought of others before herself, much like her older brother, Tanjiro. Additionally, she was a responsible elder sister to her younger siblings and often put their needs before her own. Nezuko is, however, not afraid to get in harm's way, protecting her friends from demons even after being returned to a human state. It is also shown that Nezuko's humane, laid-back demeanor supports this fact after Tanjiro apologizes to her.

Tamayo

Appearance Tamayo is a petite young woman with long, dark brown hair, parted in the center and worn braided back into a large, low bun, which is held in place by a floral tama-kanzashi hairpin. She has large, gentle eyes that initially do not possess pupils, only a haze of lavender that fades to dark purple the higher it goes, and notably red lips in contrast to her pale complexion. She also possesses sharp, polished fingernails. She is noted to have an attractive appearance by Tanjiro and Yushiro.

Personality Tamayo is a gentle, wise, and incredibly intelligent individual. Having devoted most of her life to the researching of demons and human transformation into one, she was one of the most knowledgeable individuals to be shown. Despite the generally antagonistic and virulent relationship between humanity and demons, she shows a great deal of kindness towards humans. She made it a part of her mission to assist injured or sick individuals with her expansive medical knowledge - Tanjiro Kamado being among them.

Yushiro

Appearance Yushiro has the appearance of a young man of short stature and average build with pale skin and sharp, lavender eyes with black slit pupils. He has short hair that is neatly styled and vertically shaded from a mint green to black.

Yushiro wears a light blue-grey button-up collared shirt under an all-white iromuji-haori and dark blue Seigo-Sendeihira styled hakama pants. He wears pair of zōri with dark blue straps and white tabi socks. Personality Yushiro is harsh, hot-tempered, confrontational and aggressive. His first conversation with Tanjiro begins with him insulting Nezuko Kamado and calling her an eyesore. He is usually depicted with a scowl on his face and rarely seen smiling unless when speaking about and or admiring Tamayo, to whom he is in love with, shown when he attacked the Demon Slayer for insignificant reasons on a multitude of occasions and was promptly reprimanded by her.

He only cares for Tamayo, whom he refers to with the title of "lady" out of affection and respect, and hates when others get in the way of his spending time with her and dislikes not being by her side for even a minute. In fact, he cares so little for others (and only for Tamayo) that while Tanjiro and Nezuko were fighting two demons who were trying to kill them, Yushiro suggested to Tamayo that they use Tanjiro and Nezuko as decoys to run from the demon, a suggestion that horrified Tamayo.

Muzan

Appearance Muzan is a tall man with a lean muscular build along with an unnaturally pale skin complexion that can be easily confused as being unhealthy and sickly. He has a parted, short-length, wavy black hair, with two set of curly, wavy bangs on each side of his face in the middle, and sharp, almond-shaped eyes. His irises are a vibrant red color with black, vertical cat-like pupils along with visible cracks around the pupils. He also possesses sharp, blue nails that fades into light blue where they pointed on his hands. Physically, he appears to be in his twenties.

Personality Muzan glaring at Rokuro before killing him Muzan's menacing and cold-blooded disposition. Muzan is a cold-hearted, ruthless, intimidating, cruel and exceptionally intelligent megalomaniac. He sees no value in any humans he has encountered and shows little value in his own subordinates. Rarely ever visibly upset or happy, he appears completely monotone and detached on most occasions, even when he callously murders his own subordinates. The only times he ever shows emotion are when his vision of perfection is moving forward or when he has subordinates completely submit to his will. Initially, his expressions would only change slightly and only bear a slight shift from his usual calm attitude and his tone of voice tends to be consistent at nearly all times, accentuating his monotonous demeanor. His cruel and imposing nature has gained him the great admiration and fear of many demons.

Daki

Appearance Daki was a tall, curvaceous woman with lime green eyes with a dark orange center, long eyelashes, and very pale skin, complemented by neon pink lips. Her initially black hair was styled in a full, long ponytail with kanzashi hairpins (three on each side on the top, and two on each side on the bottom) holding up the ponytail, along a small, golden comb on the back left side of her hair. The kanji for "Upper Rank" (上じょう弦げん, Jōgen?) was engraved in Daki's left eye and the daiji for "Six" (陸ろく, Roku?) was engraved on the right. Her fingers ended in sharp, dark purple nails. She had a pink obi with black hexagon patterns on all of it, along with light grey blue flower with darker on the center and light orange three length lines on it wrapped around her waist, used as her Blood Demon Art. Her toenails shared the same dark purple color as her fingernails. She sported two pink flower-like demon crests on her face and light purple on the center, one on her cheek and another on her forehead. She also wore a pinkish-red makeup on each sides of the corner of her eyelashes and eyes.

Personality Daki killing Omitsu Daki's prideful and dismissive disposition. Daki was a very arrogant, dismissive, and sadistic person, taking enjoyment in toying with her victims before killing them and not showing the slightest bit of guilt or remorse for taking the lives of her victims.[13][14] She dismissed all non-Hashira Demon Slayers as not worth her time[15] and got incensed when Tanjiro Kamado spoke to her, because she looked down on him.[16] This was also shown when Daki said that she might spare Tanjiro if he told her how many Demon Slayers are present in the Entertainment District, and when Daki openly expressed how slow the Demon Slayer's techniques were and her boredom,[17] which further showcased her dismissive personality.

Gyutaro

Appearance Gyutaro was a tall man of pale gray complexion speckled with black blotches. His anatomy was quite strange in that his upper torso, arms, and legs were all defined with musculature, whereas his waist was incredibly skinny to the point of looking skeletal, with his pelvis jutting out at an unnatural angle. His spine was prominently visible through his back, and he was usually shown being hunched over. Gyutaro possessed thin eyes that were slanted drastically downwards at the sides, giving him a permanently haggard gaze. His miotic irises were green with a dark orange center, and his sclera was a bright yellow-orange with visible veins. The kanji for "Upper Rank" (上じょう弦げん, Jogen?) is carved across his right eye, and the daiji for "Six" (陸ろく, Roku?) carved on his left. During his fight with the Demon Slayers, he lends his left eye to Daki and spends the rest of his battle with said eye shut, giving him a permanent wink.

Personality Gyutaro clawing his own flesh out of envy Gyutaro clawing his own flesh out of jealousy. Gyutaro was cruel, ruthless, petty, and envious of anyone blessed with a better life than him, owing to a life of near-constant poverty and the harsh tragedies he experienced whilst human. He developed a habit of sarcastically complimenting a person's best traits before vindictively killing them afterwards, as he did to the samurai who tried to kill him and attempted to do the same to Tengen Uzui after seeing his appearance. Because of the hardships he faced as a human, Gyutaro attained a personal belief that to take from those who have a better life than he had as a human was justified.

Kaigaku

Appearance As a human, Kaigaku was a muscular young man of average height and pale skin tone. He had short, spiky black hair with two thick strands framing each sides of his face along with bangs at the front, and a pair of dull, cold teal eyes framed by thick, arched eyebrows. His expression was often unfriendly, and he had a semi-permanent snarl.

After Kaigaku became a demon, he gained four navy blue flame-like markings on both sides of his cheeks, emerald green irises (originally colored cyan in the manga) with black sclera, elongated canines resembling fangs, sickly pale skin, sharp blackened nails, and pointed ears. By becoming a member of the Twelve Kizuki and rising to the position of Upper Rank Six, his eyes became etched with the kanji for "Upper Rank" (上じょう弦げん, Jōgen?) on his right, and daiji of "Six" (陸ろく, Roku?) on his left. Kaigaku still retained his signature kimono, which was secured with a blue obi over a stylized version of his Demon Slayer uniform that has yellow flame-like markings near the chest area and an unbuttoned collar. Personality Kaigaku invites the demon in the temple Kaigaku's cowardice and treachery was on display even as a child. Though outwardly brash, haughty, and arrogant, Kaigaku was in fact cowardly and selfish. An orphan who grew up with nothing, he resorted to doing anything as a means to survive, like thievery and drinking from a puddle.[4][5] His intense sense of self-preservation went so far as to sacrifice the lives of Gyomei Himejima and the other children under his care to save himself, showing that he would do anything if it meant his survival. This attitude was also evident during his time as a Demon Slayer; unlike those who join the Demon Slayer Corps, Kaigaku never developed a desire to slay demons or protect people.

Gyokko

Appearance Gyokko had a very bizarre and grotesque physiology, taking on the form of a pale white, abstracted, grotesque humanoid figure with a muscular upper torso that has no arms and resembles that of an armless statue growing from a white porcelain vase that is decorated with branch of green leaves and red, yellow, and dark green with purple leaves, similar to a djinn. His midsection is a red-violet color while his lower-half, or his tail is black. He had multiple underdeveloped and infant-like hands with red fingernails; four on his head that replaced his ears and were always present, and several lining up his body and tail which he can retract at will. He also possessed thin fins on the top and back of his head that were akin to hair, which were of a blended hue of purple and a blue-violet color and shaped in the style of cornrows and a ponytail. Gyokko's face was even more distorted, with large green-lipped mouths located where one would expect his eyes sockets are located, which always displayed his hyperrealistic teeth and sometimes had one or both of his tongues sticking out, along with a sharp nose. His real eyes were located vertically from one another on his face; one eye, golden yellow iris with a honey brown center and visible veins, appeared in the constantly open bottom mouth and the other, similarly golden yellow eye with a honey brown center and visible veins, was at the center of his forehead.

Personality Gyokko enraptured by Muzan's hand on his head A decapitated Gyokko's enjoyment in being held by Muzan. Gyokko was shown to be an easily excitable demon, constantly fawning over new inspirations for what he deems his "art" or what he finds to be sublime, sometimes even going against his initial impressions. He was easily swayed into euphoria whenever Muzan Kibutsuji was involved, trying not only to please him, but finding joy in being decapitated and having his head held by Muzan. Gyokko was also short-tempered, shallow, and arrogant.

Nakime

Appearance Nakime is a pale woman with a grayish complexion, who has sharp, blue-stained nails and notably dark pink lips which sharply contrasted the tone of her skin. She has glossy, hip-length hair of a black color, which she wore falling down her back in slight waves that cut off sharply at the ends, with two chin-length strands left to frame her face and long bangs that obscured her large eye set in between them, swept to either side of her nose. Nakime dons a plain-loose black kimono with a white loose yuban underneath, secured with a striped pale brown-striped obi, white socks and no shoes or clogs. She was always seen holding a four-stringed wooden biwa with a large bachi pick.

Personality Nakime rejecting Doma's invitation Nakime's silent and aloof demeanour. Unlike most demons, Nakime was not particularly violent or sadistic, and instead is aloof and taciturn, almost never speaking and displaying little to no emotion or will outside of obeying orders. She was extremely loyal to Muzan, listening and following his every order faultlessly, something he appreciated; in fact, her unwavering loyalty to him marks one of the very few instances Muzan ever complimented an individual, though it seemed more likely that he was satisfied to have a powerful tool to use at his disposal. Despite this outwardly one-sided relationship, Nakime graciously accepted his words and told her master she was honored to be of great use to him.

Akaza

Appearance Akaza was a very muscular young man of average height with skin so fair it appeared bright green-tinged white, decorated by a pattern of thick blue lines, which resembled the criminal tattoos he had as a human. Akaza had short, cerise hair that fluffed out around his head and inward-tilting yellow eyes with cerise eyelashes and blue sclera that somewhat resembled cracked glass. The kanji for Upper Rank (上じょう弦げん, Jōgen?) was etched into his right iris, and the daiji for Three (参さん, San?) was etched into his left. Personality Akaza coaxing Kyojuro into becoming a demon Akaza coaxing Kyojuro into becoming a demon as he recognizes his strength. Akaza was a headstrong, stubborn, and battle-crazed social Darwinist who enjoyed fighting, especially against strong Demon Slayers. He purposefully drew out fights to savor every moment of it; the Upper Rank tended to become enthralled whenever he was hit by a powerful opponent, not due to masochism but out of a genuine admiration for their skills. Akaza always complimented his opponents when they unleashed powerful techniques or landed blows on him, usually remarking that their techniques and swordsmanship were magnificent and intriguing. Akaza looked down on anybody he deemed weak, so much so that his skin would crawl at the sight of them.

Doma

Appearance Doma is a tall young man of muscular build. He is of extremely pale complexion and possesses long, pointed nails that appeared to be stained with a pale purple. He possesses long platinum blond hair that he wore parted to his right, the shorter parts around his face seeming to flare out to either side around his head, curving backwards with one lock slanting down to the right of his face to fall between his eyes, while the longer parts were left to drape centrally down his back in a thinning spiral. Due to his appearance, he was seen as a divine being, and as such, he was made into a cult figure. Personality Doma chats with Gyokko Doma's friendly and unassuming facade. Doma is outwardly friendly and cheery, possessing an approachable and charismatic air. Kanae Kocho describes him as talking and acting in a calm and carefree manner. However, in truth, he has psychopathic tendencies and adopts twisted beliefs and habits, such as devouring his cult's followers with the belief he is saving them from their suffering and pain by letting them live inside his body.

Kokushibo

Appearance Kokushibo is a tall man with a muscular build and a pale skin complexion. He possesses long, spiky black hair with red tips, that he keeps in a ponytail, along with two shoulder-length, flowing, wavy bangs on each side that reaches to his collarbone. His most notable feature is the three sets of eyes on his face with yellow irises and red flesh sclera that have black straight lines diverging from each iris. His middle set of eyes has the kanji of "Upper Rank (上じょう弦げん, Jōgen?)" on engraved on his left eye, and daiji for "One (壱いち, Ichi?)" on his right, while his other sets of eyes feature black pupils and a cracked pattern in the irises. His top set of eyes replaced his eyebrows. Kokushibo also has red markings resembling flames for his Demon Slayer Mark on the top left side of his forehead that extended down to his left temple, and the bottom right of his cheek down to his right side of his neck. His appearance is described as profound and majestic by Muichiro Tokito.

Personality Kokushibo accepts Muzan's reprimands Kokushibo's stoic and reserved disposition. Kokushibo is reserved, silent, and aloof, maintaining an aura of unnerving tranquility and mystery that complements his position as Upper Rank One. He rarely speaks; when he does, he talks in a slow and emphatic manner that gives more gravitas and authority to his words. He is an adamant, punctual rule-follower and shows deep respect to the hierarchy of the Twelve Kizuki, as seen at the Upper Ranks Meeting.[9] Kokushibo is shown to be humble as well, and isn't hesitant to admit his failure or complain of any difficulty. He demonstrates unwavering loyalty towards Muzan Kibutsuji as he carries out his actions solely to fulfill his objectives.
