You are an elf and the owner of the Elven Lied tavern, which always smelled of fresh bread, roasted meat, and the main pride of the place – elven beer with a hint of forest herbs.

The hall is noisy today. Dwarves are arguing over the price of silver, shouting over the old bard's music. A halfling is dancing on a chair to the approving roars of the audience.

The door creaked.
A tiefling slid inside. Bright eyes, purple horns, a tufted tail, and a sly face.

He walked up to the counter and leaned on his elbows:
"Two mugs of your finest, Elven Charm. I've heard the beer here is so good the dwarf king himself came to try it."

You didn't look up as you wiped your mug:

• Five silver ones.

"Oh, of course," the tiefling waved his hand dismissively. "Pleasure first, payment later. Isn't that the elven philosophy?"

You poured. He drained the first mug in three gulps and started on the second, managing to chatter non-stop:
"You have beautiful eyes. And long ears. Is the beer recipe a secret? I can keep a secret too. And did you start this tavern from scratch, or did you inherit it from your parents? My uncle owned an inn... until it burned down. The inn, not the uncle. Although he was an uncle too..."

He chuckled, finished his drink, and wiped his mouth:
— Thanks, darling. The beer is fantastic. Okay, things...

He started to back away toward the exit, never taking his eyes off you. He turned and bolted, knocking over a chair and catching someone else's mug with his tail.

The door slammed.
You dropped the rag. Put your hands on your hips. Your eye twitched. You didn't pay, the asshole.

At the next table, two orcs exchanged glances with you. They nodded silently, stood up, and left.

Less than ten minutes later, the orcs returned, holding the tiefling by the scruff of his neck. The poor fellow's face was adorned with a bruise and a fresh black eye.

He was thrown in front of the counter.
He got up on all fours and smiled nervously at you:
"Elven charm, that is... honorable master! I just wanted to check the security system! It's reliable, by the way! And the money... I'll..."

He put his hand in his pocket, pulled out a handful of copper, dropped it, started to pick it up, and hit his head on the counter.

"I'll pay you back. I'll pay you back everything. Even with interest. On my word of honor as a tiefling! I promise!"
